I am having a hard time diagnosing the reason behind why I am suddenly boosting to 20 psi after only upgrading the intercooler pipes and adding a Greddy Type RS bov.

Also, redirected boost source to only run on the wastegate so now boost will hit like 14 psi and then snap down to 11 psi. Still hitting fuel cut at WOT.

Any insight would be helpful! Thanks

It seems that a boost leak is highly likely the cause from what I have read in other posts, but wouldnt that be an issue at lighter throttle use also? Why only WOT?

I am running a Greddy RS BOV and the stock T-25. Got the Hallman RX controller on order so I can tune up to 15 psi steady.

Right now the only boost controll I have is the wastegate.

ok. so you have just eased my mind a little and reaffirmed what i thought the problem was.

thanks for the speedy reply..

according to your profile your still on the stock exhaust, with the new BOV and I/C piping along with the K&N your more then likely getting boost creep (hence the pressure spiking to 20 psi) because the exhaust can't get out fast enough. Just my 2 cents....

On any turbo car if you add hard pipes instead of the rubber tubes, your boost will go up by a few psi.

Rubber pipes swell under boost, hard pipes don't. That is one reason your boost went up.
Changing the BOV also added a few psi to your boost because the stock one was probably leaking, or opening under boost.

Are you venting that Greddy RS bov?

i have the same problem, if i put any boost controller no matter how low i put the bc it doent go below 18, 20 psi(since i have a t25 the boost start drooping quick) but if i run just the wastegate i see 11 or 12 psi

I did a boost leak test and the only leak I can detect is one coming from an injector seal. It seams like a pretty major leak enough that I lose close to about 2 psi per second.

What I dont understand is why is this suddenly affecting the performance of my car now that I installed the mods, but not when it was stock?

Thanks

Ok. That makes sense. Because when I first test drove the car I was boosting to 20 psi and hitting fuel cut. Naturally...

Now I am only boosting to 11 psi and still hit fuel cut... The boosting to 20psi is probably what killed the injector o-rings. I'll give that a shot. Luckily the set only runs me about $4.00.

What probably happened is you had lots of smaller boost leaks (or a few big ones), and the new intercooler pipes fixed a lot of them (happened to me). The turbo is still moving the same amount of air, but more of it is getting to the intake manifold.

As mentioned above, any upgrade in intercooler pipes, bov, and intake will help up your boost by a few psi.
Check for any possible boost leaks as well.
I myself am having problems with my car overboosting to boost levels 20psi+ ! Yes that is correct. I suspect my wastegate arm might be bad. I also have a small area on my s-pipe where a little air comes out so that might be a factor as well that you could look into as well on yours.

I got my boost controller installed and set at a solid 15psi. My biggest problem now is just hitting the damn fuel cut.

At 12psi my car just sputters and putters and acts like a total piece of crap. I did a boost leak test and found only the leaks at the injectors. Is there anything else that would cause fuel cut at 12psi?

Thanks

It probably boost spiked and blew the injector seal.

20 psi 'blowing' an injector seal. Those of us that run more than 20psi don't run some special injector seals. On these cars, the injector seals are usually rock hard by now and are cracked and leaking, so it is best to find some new ones. Do a boost leak test and fix the leaks.

I've done boost leak tests and fixed them... I replaced the injector o-rings. No more big leaks.

I am not running fine on 15psi, I start sputtering at 12psi and it continues on through 15psi. Could there be some issue with a possible "bad" injector or a fualty FPR?

Any other possible problems anyone can think of?

That statement is referring to having an old seal that was dry and hard, letting go once the boost exceeded the limit that it normally saw before this issue.
