allright guys so heres my conundrum i just bought my white 2g its got a 16g turbo and aem truboost set to 17psi :ohdamn: . So my thought is i need to turn down the boost because there are really no other supporting mods and i have no way to tune yet. Question #1 recommendations on if this is what i should do? Question #2 does anyone know how to set boost level with the truboost?

I'd turn the boost down to about 10 psi if you can. Without a proper set up (wideband, injectors, fuel pump, tuning device) you are just asking for trouble running any higher than around 10 psi on a 16g. There is a lot of info on the forums regarding this topic as it is a common question.

You can also just run the wastegate directly to the boost source and bypass the AEM unit for now until you get the supporting mods.

And this, folks, is why we always tell people to do all supporting mods before even thinking about touching the turbo. I see that the OP wasn't the culprit, but whoever he bought it from obviously didn't know much about these cars.

Thanks for all of the great answers guys and i apologize for my search skills being a little rusty.
Snowboarder714-if i were to simply set the controller mode to off and left the guage on would I recieve the same stock boost pressure as simply bypassing the unit?
and yeah definitely was my first concern that there was a new turbo with no supporting mods:nono: hence my post

Yes, you'll run wastegate pressure (8-10psi) if you shut it off.

thanks for the insight guys set the controller to off and shes running back at a safe 8-9 psi feels so much smoother on the car too
