Boost Leakage?

Hey guys ya i just bought my 90 gsx about a week ago and i think i have boost leakage.
Right now it has a replaced stock turbo from factory with about 30k on it. It has an Dejon Tool UICP with stock BOV. I check all the fittings on the intercooler and didnt see any leaks. But when i boost all it goes up to is 9psi. Is that stock? I heard from my friend that had a dsm(90 gst) a few years back said that his boosted 14psi stock. Am i getting boost leakage or is my friend full of BS?

If you're reading the stock gauge, don't. It's inaccurate and doesn't mean anything.

If you're looking at an aftermarket gauge, yes, you probably have a leak.

unless its a huge leak... you will never just "see" it. Also, when installing anything to do with IC and IC pipes its always a good idea to do a leak test before thinking that your job is done. Make a leak tester and know for sure.

ya i'm reading it off a autometer boost gauge.. How would i do a leakage test?

If you have a manual boost controller, then you might want to try turning the boost up via the knob. If not, then you probably have a boost leak somewhere. Build the leak tester, it is very inexpensive to fabricate, and with a little bit of soapy water you'll be able to pinpoint where the leak is occuring at.
