My DSM has had a boost leak for a while and i havent gotten a boost leak tester on it to check it out because i dont have one. I know you can make one, but i dont have the time. I did however pop the hood and found a possible culprit to a boost leak. I have a vacuum line that isnt connected to anything. It hangs freely and appears to have two spots for connections. The problem is i dont see where they are supposed to lead to. If anyone can tell where this line should lead by these pictures, any help would be appreciated.:talon: Thanks.

This car had most of the things stock, just free mods like air box done to it. Oh, and it isnt brass, its just a free hanging plastic fitting. It was tucked away. Is this the type of fitting that is used for hooking up a boost controller? I didnt even have any problems with boost leaks when i first got the car so i dont know if this could even be the problem.

You should just cap the lines and see what happens. if problems persist follow the line and find where the other end is connected too, most vaccume lines are useless and can be deleted anyway

That looks like some one taped into it it looks like origanaly that it shouldn't have the T fitting and be hooked to the side of the throttle body.

Good luck,
Brandon

No, vaccume lines are pointless..all they do is end up leaking. Just make sure you block both ends securely, or like said if you dont want to delete the hose just trace it back, the rubber peice the 3 hoses are in is just a cover u can cut that and follow the hose. Like said by *1990Talon* it does look like a hose from the throttle body.

Ok on that line. Your talking about the 6 inch or so peice comming of the T right? Where does the other side of the T connect? Have you traced the line to see what it is hooked to on the other side? Getting rid of a vac line all together not knowing what it is used for is never a good idea. If its not going anywhere have you tried capping it off like previously mentioned? Does that do anything?

I have to wait for this rain to calm, but im going to try to cap it off. Thanks.

Wait, don't just cap it off...You realize it had to go to something before so the other side won't be capped off right? It looks to me like it connects to the vacuum line that runs on the intake manfold bracket, which is under/behind the intake manifold. That's probably why you couldn't find it. I would also check to make sure both vacuum lines are plugged into the EGR valve. I just replaced my vacuum lines today, I'm sure it goes around there. It's the only place in the engine bay that I've found that has that two lines going into one. Is the one line that is connected running the the canister under the battery? I'm willing to bet it is.

Edit: I thought it was two lines going into one, which doesn't appear to be the case as I look at it again. But still look under the intake manifold and check there and the throttle body, as well as the charcoal canister.
