Hi to all. I hope you can tell me how to solve my problem in my 96 gst.
my boost gauge in idle will under 18-20hg. and i know if its in idle it is normal but when i press the gas it should not run more than 0 but mine is going beyond at least reaching 5 - 8 psi. please help. and also what would be the effect in running condition of my car if this problem will not be addressed thanks a lot

are you talking like revving in neutral or driving the car. Because if your revving in neutral that doesnt sound right. 5-8 lbs sounds right for a stock gst. Whats the problem. Is the car not driving right under 5-8 lbs?

yes reving the car when it is not in gear should build some boost, especially if it is a small turbo

Thanks for your replies.. nway im revving it in neutral and it gives a reading of about 5-8psi. unlike my friend who has the same car as i am (96 gst) when he is revving it in neutral the maximum reading for his boost gauge is zero while in my case it pushing more as i have said awhile ago. is it normal. nways im still the stock t25 turbo. thanks a lot guys..

Well....you are bound to build some boost. But that much dont sound right...What are you doing revving it till it bounces off the stock rev limiter or what?Or are you using antilag for some reason?Sounds a little wierd

Where do you have your boost gauge tapped? It sounds like your getting inacurate readings. It needs to be as close to the IM as possible. Its recommended to T it from the boost source for the FPR. You shouldnt see more than maybe 2psi with a free rev and thats getting closer to redline which is horrible on the motor might I add. :thumb:

HI J .......

welcome to our forum

as i said to you before its normal to build some boost on neutral , its has been discussed here for so many times go to the search and type boost in neutral

so many people agreed that some of the cars can build boost up to 13 psi on neutral without load on the engine while some cars can max do 2 psi at neutral

it depends on the cars and again i just checked my car this morning its reading 5 PSI at neutral

cheers

i don't think that its a problem at all, you might have a bad gauge or inaccurate reading as was said before. If I rev mine in nuetral i will hit 13psi, but its at almost 7000rpms. But if its under that I get a reading of almost zero boost. My reccomendation is to keep from redlining it in neutral and you should be okay.
