Boost gauge and speedo raise when key on

Hey guys, I've read similar threads but could't find the answer Im looking for. When I turn the key to on the car does not "initialize" ding ding ding the speedo jumps to 50 and the boost gauge goes from nothing to the 3rd bar from the bottom. When I turn it off the speedo will slowly go back down to 20 and stay there.

The check engine light is on also

I am still in the process of doing the swap so I have not attempted to crank it over yet. I did however have the cluster apart at one point swapping out the milage from my old cluster but I was sure that I was carefull in placing all the needles back in. Could all of this be caused by maybe a little slop in the needles back on?

I don't know much about the subject but if it helps, neither my boost nor my speedo move when the key is turned to "on".

Is it the original gauge? What kind of boost gauge is it?

The cel lights usually light up then after a few seconds turn off... and only my anti lock brake stays on, but thats because i pulled the fuse.

Are these the stock gauges that you're having problems with? To elaborate, did you transfer an entire cluster over? Lastly, did you REMOVE the needles at any time for any work? i.e. to install reverse overlays, etc.

The symptoms you've provided usually occur when you remove the needles. If that's the case, then you just need to "recalibrate" them back to the neutral/zero point with they key in the "on" position.

Also, get the DTC's ASAP. It could be anything from small to serious.

yes they are the original gauges from a talon turbo, and they were removed when i took my odometer from my old cluster and put it into the new one it was only about a 2k difference but i was 2k under what the talon had so yes the needles were removed at one point. and bboyalan what do you mean by DTC's

DTC's = the specific code from your CEL.

Well since you admit to having removed the needles at some point previously, it's very likely that they just need to be recalibrated with the key in "on" as I mentioned earlier. Simply remove them and set them back to zero.

When the key is "on" where should the boost gauge be sitting? It doesnt matter to much because I have a GReddy to install but just for reference.

That's a good question . I'm assuming that you used the cluster from a second gen Talon right? The first gens have actual numbers in comparison to, so I honestly wouldn't know. I'm sure someone else can chime in though. If they're the same, it would appear that the "third bar from the top" could be correct.
