bolt/pin on the bottom of the alternator is missing the nut

Hello everyone today i got home from work and looked under the hood of my car to check the oil. looked down because my alternator belt squeels when i start the car.... i check the belt and the alternator it self is moving.... the bolt/pin on the bottom of the alternator is missing the nut . does anyone know what size and thread it is? i'm gonna go to a hardware store to buy it but I don't know what it is..... Thanks for the help

I think it is 6mm nut/10mm wrench/. Just try and take off a 6mm nut from the car and try it first, before you go.

At advance they have a tool that tells you the size an thread pitch so if you could talk the alternator bolt they could match one up. If you have a parts store near by.

[It's called a "Thread Pitch Gauge", and is available at any hardware store.]

I dont remember off hand. It is either a m6x1.00 or a m8x1.25. Buy both nuts so then at least you know you have one that will work.
