Bolt missing from valve cover

In the rectangle well where the spark plugs are there a bolt missing in the bottom right corner and idk if thats the reason for the oil on the valve cover or what...
Can I use one of the bolts from the cam gear cover that isnt on the car to fill the hole?

Why isn't the bolt in there? If its because it's stripped or the threads are broken odds are they over tightened it cracking the valve cover which could be one cause. DSM oil caps are pretty shit so they leak like they aren't even on there most of the time, mine did when running 5w30 but stopped when running 10w30.

You should also run your T-belt cover, god forbid something fly up in your engine bay and get caught in that mess.

I personally would not use those bolts I like using bolts that are intended for the valve cover. But that hole is more than likely not your oil leak. Like gusu ^^^ said it is more than likely your oil cap because I had the same problem and when I replaced the cap the oil leak went away. You can order one of extremepsi.com or ebay or wherever u truly want because the stock cap seals fail often so its a worthy good looking upgrade.

I just had to do a Valve cover gasket. Along with a head, intake manifold, exhaust manifold and oil pan gaskets. But all the bolt holes on my head were stripped, valve cover not being cracked. I helicoiled them all. Went to the local hardware store and bought some 6x1 metric bolts about one inch long. Worked out great for me no leaks. Except for the awesome oil fill cap.

Just the other day I had the same problem. I thought it was the valve cover bolts so I helicoiled a few of them because they were stripped out and then tightened the valve cover back up. I took it out for a quick stroll and as soon as I hit boost I started smelling the oil. My brother ended up spotting where the oil was leaking down by the oil cap. Luckily I had a spare from my old head and it solved the problem.

If you are getting oil in the spark plug well, it's not the cap that's the problem, it's the rubber gasket under it. You can order that from the dealer for just a few bucks. Part no. MD311638
