Blown HG...Can I?

Okay I just found out that I blew my HG because my radiator is full of oil. I am low on cash and wanted to know if you guys think it would be safe to replace the HG without getting the head resurfaced. I know that it's a must to get the head resurfaced but...can I if I don't boost much.

When I replaced my head gasket I never had the head resurfaced but mine wasnt as bad as yours. I just took my head in to get pressure tested to make sure it wasn't cracked.

I wouldn't bother with resurfacing unless there is a problem that needs to be corrected on the head. Take the head down to a machine shop, they might charge you $10, have them check the head for warpage. It's money and time well spent to make sure you don't end up right back where you are now.

To reduce the chance of having to actually deck it, be sure to untorque the head bolts in sequence, as per your friend the service manual

Not a problem. Take your time, don't cut corners, and double check everything and you'll be fine
