Well 1992 Talon TSI AWD. It went in limp mode. While I was driving it home (in limp mode) it jerked one time, but still no shifting. I got no TCU codes, so I put in another one and all was well again, shifted just fine. Three days past and the old lady is driving it, she said it jerked (the tires squealed) while cruising at about 35, then bam, back to limp mode. Again I am getting no TCU codes.

Is there something that could be blowing it? I hate to keep repalcing it, just to blow it.

ANy help is appreciated.

It was not a new TCU I put in, so it could be freak incident, but I hate to chance it.
 
Other than checking your connectors for corrosion (not uncommon in that area) also make sure the chassis grounds are good down there too. Other than that, try another or try removing the power and 'reset' the TCu and see if it works fine again.

Well I think I may just be an unlucky guy. I took the TCU out (my buddies) and took off the cover, and next to the big black cap had leaked all over the transistor next to it. I guess this one was just on its last leg. At least this is what I am hoping happens.

I ended up ordering one off Ebay for $150.00, but now I have to take care of my buddy. I think I am getting off good here too. He offered me the whole car for $200 before I borrowed the TCU. I guess now I will just buy it. It is a 91or 92 I think TSI AWD. The motor is siezed but before that I guess it ran fine. I am pretty much out of room (I have a Shelby Dodge in the way) btu I guess I'll squeeze this one in too. I figure worst case I part it out or scrap it and can get my money back I'm sure. Or I may just fix her up and play with it, we'll see. For right now it's snowmobile time!
