this car is a 92 plymouth laser awd turbo 5spd. it has a 2.5" cat back exhaust, g reddy bov, and a k&n. our problem is the tailpipe is black, it crackles and pops when you shift gears. when you give it gas to go up a big hill the turbo goes up, but it slows way down. you take the gas off of it and just lightly give it some and it goes.we changed the oxygen sensor, but it made no differance. you unplug it and it runs the same. i think maby its the ground on the exhaust will that make a differance on or off? i wired it back on with a clamp, or also maby i wired it wrong cause you had to use your old plug and there are two white wires maby backwards? i switched them around and still ran the same. any ideas?

the cel comes on and goes off in a couple miles. took it to advance auto to get the codes. they couldnt find where to plug in the scanner at. we thought it was under the driver side dash but couldnt find it. where do you find it at?

yeah its under the driver side dash right next to the fues box. sounds like it could be a knock sensor problem. I had the same problems checked the code found out it was for the knock sensor.

botch plus platinum 4 plugs, new wires timings good. looked on vfaq and found out how to check the codes. ill let you know what o find out. thanx :thumb:

hmmm......we're not too far away from each other.....sounds like a knock sensor to me, my 90 has done the same thing, kinda got rid of my knock sensor (cheated my way around it) 0 counts of knock YEAH!!!.....i would'nt really recommend this for everybody though............but yeah knock sensor is what i'm thinkin............. :dsm:

bwahaaaaaa......whats that for???......you doubt my knowlege, or is it my decision to kill the knock sensor.....its a work car that is completely stock that has never been revved over like 3k since ive owned it......... :dsm:

i was justr reading the vfaq s about knock. says it could be caused by noisy lifters. i know when you start the car up in the morning you can hear the lifters till it gets warmed up. we run 93 octane all the time, just changed the oil put in gtx high milage, it only has 125,000 on it. could the noisy lifters cause it to do what its doing?

change the platinum plugs for normal ones! it says in the vfaq not to use platinum plugs in a turbocharged car, especially a dsm. other people have had the same type of problem when they switched to platinum plugs. just a thought and it is really cheap. :dsm:

I already told you!

My car blows black smoke! Is there a fix?
My car blows gray smoke! Is there a fix?

"This is caused by uncombusted [unburned] fuel. Could be plugs, timing, clogged air filter, air/fuel mixture, wires, coil, etc. Start with the cheapest answer and work your way up."

ok sorry took so long to reply computer was down. we changed to ngk 6es plugs, helped a little, started it up and herd a little sssssss by the bov. here the hose for the down tube was cracked and leaking. also i found the other hose that goes to the intake was leaking a little. i cut the cracked part off and stuck it back on, it helped out alot, it runs alot better. and for the little hose we need to replace its just a little short b/c i already cut a piece off. thanks for yopur help. also where do u t into for the adjustment on the greddy bov? theres already a t between the intercooler duct to the turbo charger for the wast gate solenoid. can i tee into this by the sylinoid?
