Alright I was looking into the BigT28's and I see there is the FP BigT28 and the Garrett BigT28 turbos out there. I was looking at them for more of a stealth thing, but which one is better, I looked though the forums but it seemed like it was kinda even between the two. The cfms are not to much different, but from what i can see is that the Garrett has a 12psi waste gate and the FP has a 17psi waste gate. so what does this mean it starts boosting where the waste gates are calibrated at? And any input would be nice i was planning to go with a big evo3, but i need to umm.... mess with ppl lets say thats why i was looking at these turbos.

I doubt there will be a noticible difference between either turbo in spool up. The FP unit is likely the better turbo since they've recognized the problems with the turbo and have done things to improve them - the other companies could probably give a crap less. Unless there is a big price difference, I'd go with the FP. They probably changed the exhaust wheel to reduce wastegate blow open.

If you want to stop it from falling off at the end, you can add preload to the actuator. I have a nice write up on Talk explaining how to do it right for this turbo. Some people have claimed that it is just the turbo running out of steam, but I was able to get 25psi at the boost spike and if fell to 23psi at the top of the gear. Also contrary to bench-racer's myth, I gained 2mph in trap speeds going from from 23psi peak to a 25psi peak boost (falling 2psi in both cases). Keep in mind that I was also burning E85, had water injection, and had an intake temperature gauge to verify that I was properly cooling the air back down. I also tuned for no knock using DSMLink. I would never have tried to push the turbo into such an inefficient zone without those precautions. That is also hard on a turbo and will trash them if you push them that hard all the time.

alright found some info that might shock the 16g ppl (or make it worse idk) (FP 16g sleeper) Galant VR4 to an 11.47 @ 119mph AND the (FPbigt-28) full weight 99 GSX to an [email protected]. don't know much about the two cars except the weight of the gsx is 4074lbs but 4 tenths is a lot , still thats the FP sleeper i wonder what the Evo 3 would run probley kinda close to the t28. NOT SAYING BAD THINGS ABOUT ANY 16G BUT THIS IS MY RESEARCH AND THIS IS WHAT I CAME UP WITH. TIMES came straight from FP so check it out if you don't believe me

Sleeper 16g's, 16g killers or whatever awkward variation of the original are generally less successful than a ported Evo3 16g. I couldn't tell you why, but thats my observation.

But also keep in mind that pulling an 11sec. run with a Big T-28 would take huge money, time, tuning and of course pushing the unit to its max.

Another thing, DSM's weigh in at 3100 to 3300lbs, roughly speaking. Not sure where that 4klbs number came from.

A Big T-28 will hold its own to any 16g variant, but make no mistake that the EvoIII 16g is the bigger, badder turbo.

I got my numbers off the door jam idk if I read them right or not... But it said 4074lbs not kg, lb's.

I know the Evo 3 16g would have a little trouble with the t-28 but not much at all, more peak psi more stable psi then the t-28 but none the less you have to give the t-28 credit.

What you were looking at is the gross weight.

I wish more people used the T28's. The Evo3's are just too appealing to some for their cost/performance. The T28's need to come down in price.

My next turbo after the FP-Big28 was an Evo3 16g. I made the same power at 22psi with the E316g that I made at 25psi with the Big28. The Big28 was maxed out, but people have pushed E316g's to 30psi when really running them ragged. On the other hand, my Big28 made full boost about 500 rpms earlier IIRC. That is usually the trade off for more power, though. And the E316g still spooled up fast IMO.

yeah the evo has its benefits and I have started to see that with the extra part time job I got as of today and a possible 3rd my budget kinda just went out of the window so I might just say the hell with the stealth thing after all the arguing over this issue my new outlook might be go bigger a 20g might be in the future but i don't know much about it so if any one has had experience with it or info and would like to share go for it im mainly looking for the horse power i can get out of it the best type of mods that go hand in hand with it and like what kind of flanges for an o2 housing and header will it fit any info helps
