bigger turbo??

i have a big 16 g now, when i go to get something bigger so i keep the stock coolent lines?? or do some get blocked off or just get new hoses?? i see that there are about 2 or 3 coolent lines on the turbo?????

Alan,

It depends on what turbo you buy. Any TD05 frame (EVO III, Sleeper 16G, MHI 18G) will use the same coolant and oil lines. There are others on this list, but those are the basic ones just to give you an idea. The exception would be higher end ball bearing units that only use oil to cool the turbine.

It all depends on the turbo you choose to upgrade too. There are only two water lines an inlet and an outlet. Some center sections are oil cooled only and some are oil and water/antifreeze. From the ones that I have seen ball bearing models are usually both, its some of the standard bearings that are only oil.

so if i get a bigger turbo only oil cooled do i just block off the old spots in which the lines were goin to my old turbo?

That would be correct. If she's oil cooled only, the water lines are capped off and not used.
