bigger injectors w/o tuning = surge?

I'm looking at buying an AT 1G that has been modded slightly. The mods are: 14b, 450cc injectors, gutted cat and possibly a catback. It's running at about 12 psi. It hasn't been tuned for the bigger injectors or turbo.

The guy says it backfires sometimes and idle surges. My guess is that it's just doing that because it's running rich and if I just get an AFC and adjust the ratio, everything will be fine. I just wanted to ask before I buy it if you guys think anything else could be wrong.

The thing is I have to drive it about 300 miles (from Austin to Dallas) like that before I can get it back to my house, then it'll sit in the parking lot until I get an AFC. Will that be a problem?

You will be fine IMO. You should be able to drive it home if you want to as long you don't slam in the gas to boost it. Even thought it is just runing a little rich. (if it is lean it is a problem)
By getting a Safc will solve the problem but you can't be guessing what you are doing so at least you need a datalogger to check the fuel trims.

Also you can get a Chip with the injector size build into it (great option for the future). If you have an E-prom build in the ECU.
