big oil pressure problems

guys, recently had jdm swap done. i get it back, car is reading no oil pressure, i take it back, he says its the sender, dont worry its a unreliable gauge, which i understand to be true.
so i get it back next day, turn it on start driving, BAM maxed out pressure, so now im freaking out, so i dropped it off again.

is this the gauge, or is it more than that.

check connection on the sendor... it can tend to be loose.

My guess is that he cheated and didn't use the exclusive Mitsubishi pressure sender at $60 for a $10 part.

From what I've fiddled with in the past, I don't think it's usual to measure oil pressure at the damned pump outlet. Of course your pressure's going to be good there, and so what? It kind of matters more what the pressure is up in the engine, such as along the main oil gallery.

A lot of what Mits did with these engines is really good, but some of it is just plain goofy.

So long as you're not getting an oil pressure light, don't panic.
