I just stopped an oil leaking problem and now I have the oil light coming on. I'm going to give all the information that may be relavent to the problem.

When replacing the head gasket about a week ago the jack holding the motor up slipped and dented the oil filter, may have bent it. Next, when putting the cams back in I did not have the torque spec. so I tightened until they felt tight enough---but the problem did not arise until after I repaired the oil leak and I had driven my car before fixing the leak without the oil light coming on. When I was done with fixing the oil leak I guesstamated the amount of oil still in the engine and test drove it---this is when the oil light came on. I had filled it with way to much oil, so I did an oil change but not a new filter.

It has started making noises after long runs, a clicking from the top I think.

Hopefully with this information someone can help me.

OUCH! Guesstimating torque specs for head bolts and cams is dangerous. Head bolts specs are short bolts 29 lbs long bolts 48 lbs but it sounds like you have more serious probs. You need to go back and properly set your torque specs. Your timing may be off also. Ask somebody locally who has experience to give you a hand. Check and verify you have proper oil levels and torque specs and you may save your engine.
