big oil leak

well my problem is is that I'm leaking oil really badly under the hood. i've searched and i've come to the conclusion that either my dipstick is popping out with oil or my oil cap is leaking. I'm pretty sure its the oil cap though. Anyway, my question is could it be leaking from anywhere else? And also, the oil seems to getting its way on to the tip of the top of my hood and even on the bottom of my bumper so i'm thinking it's leaking from more than just the oil cap.

I'm almost 100% sure it's your oil cap. I actually had the same exact problem, another way to really check is to take off your spark plug cover and see if there is any sign of oil in there. Also, check your intake manifold underneath the fuel rail and see if there is any sign of oil there. I'm not sure if your car is a 1g or 2g, but it should be the same either way.

thanks for the info, but my question is, how the hell does it get from the oil cap to the bottom of the bumper? its a 1g btw

I'm not so sure how it got there, but I had a somewhat large puddle on the ground in front of my car before I switched mine out. If it doesn't help, take some pictures and post them up. Be sure to update for us.

once thare is an oil leak oil runs all over the place is could be hitting the hood and running down the hood then onto the radiator support to the bumper somewhare then to the ground its hard to say but like the others said place so picts up and good luck on getting the problem fixed.

ps> sometimes when you open your hood is the oil dip stick poped out of the tube or does it always stay seated in it.

You cant be 100% sure that its the oil cap because I've seen a lot of situations, and experience it myself, where its just a matter of the dip stick popping out. They're both pretty inexpensive, so just try replacing them both and see what happens from there.

Oh, and one more thing - if the oil gets onto your radiotor, it can take a long time to leak out.

the dipstick usually pops out about half an inch but i usually dont see any oil around it. i'm gonna replace the oil cap today to see if it fixes the leak. thanks for the help
