Better mileage?

Just wondering what are the ways to improve mileage? Fuel injector cleaners? What brand? Thanks!

That is a very helpful article. If you installed an AFR gauge you could better monitor/manage your fuel based off of how lean or rich your motor is running. For example while on the interstate you can feather the gas pedal more and try to maintain the leanness of the ratio but still accelerate to where you need to be.

FWIW dont use injector cleaners they do little to nothing in ways of cleaning. Its best to either send off you injectors to RC engineering to be cleaned or send a spare set over, they will clean and balance them out so they all flow as close as possible to the same/higher rate.. Also get a can of GM top engine cleaner (can be bought at any GM dealership Cadilac dealers usually have it) or seafoam spray cleaner, this stuff will clean out the carbon deposit in the motor and helps with fuel economy. After that change the plugs and oil, because that stuff will foul up the plugs from all the carbon it cleans out, it will also make the car smoke like crazy for a little bit so dont get scared.. High mileage cars benifit a lot from those two things..

Don't rev the tach past 3K in 1st gear and in any gear to 4th. Inflate tires (stock) to 35psi to reduce rolling resistance. Keep motor tuned.

Drive sane and safe for starters.

I do a lot of town driving in my Laser and with these above attributes, I can muster 23mpg in town driving during the summer and 21 in the winter months. Freeway driving, I can get close to 30mpg.

Being stock, I also use 87 fuel and it doesn't hurt the motor. Been doing this for almost 5 yrs and 28K miles now.

Get the taller 5th gear, drop weight, don't redline.

90 ecu's can do 87. But in 91 they changed the ecu's to have a fuel map meant for 91-94 octane. 90 ecu's have a wide range for the fuel maps meant to handle the lower octane.

I wouldn't run 87 in a dsm with an ECU from 91+ only a 90.
