best way to put a DVD player in the car?

ive been droolin over those new Alpine DVD players with the pop out screen that goes right in the dash, but theyre way too expensive for me to spend on something non performance... so i was thinkin there are other options. has anyone mounted one of those dvd players with the built in LCD screen in their car, the ones that like fold out? they have em in walmart/best buy kind of places and i was thinking maybe mount it on top of the airbag on the passenger side. but i wonder how they would hook up to the car speakers?

also what about a DVD player that is separate from the dash, you mount it under dash or seat or something. and then buying a screen seperately?

pretty much looking for the most cost effective solution besides buying a 1500$ Alpine setup

After having a bunch of Sh*t stolen I am thinking about going this route. I'll have to put some grey fabric over it to match my headliner but the price is right....

Could you have that headliner screen, this player, and a regular cd deck hooked up at the same time? I dont see how you would get the speakers hooked up to the cd deck and the dvd player?

if your radio has an Auxilary input it will work just fine, otherwise you can get an FM modulator. either way you can listen to the DVD through your stereo just fine. I work at a Mobile Audio/Video shop doing sales & installs (we have the alpine screens, they are sweet) one of the above methods will work great for you. the FM mod is inexpensive & works fine for most. you can find them under $50

Or you can get a nice set of headphones or wireless headphones since listening to movies doesn't benefit the driver that much. Passenger gets to watch the movie/play the game and you can play music/book on CD/radio through the car speakers.
