I hooked up my Jenson indash dvd player and there's a wire that I have to connect to my parking brake to get the dvd screen to work (apparently it's illegal to watch dvds while driving, who knew? haha). Is there a way around that? Theoretically speaking of course...

yes there is a way around it, theoretically....LOL. All you have to do (depending on the unit) is ground it out or give power to. Check the manual wether it says for your unit wether it needs to be wired into another ground, then into the parking brake, or it just goes into a 12 volt source. As I remember, the Jensen's were easy to get around, it was the new eclipse and alpine units that are getting harder.

Alright thanks, maybe when it's warmer than 8 degrees out I'll try it haha

Do Kenwood's parking wire require a ground or power source for it to play DVD's while driving?

hmm...good to know guys.
i have a pioneer unit i think i might try something like this with.

I had my jensen unit installed at car toys and for legal purposes they installed the parking brake wire. However, with my model jensen you can type in a code using the remote and access a secret menu which lets you bypass the parking brake safety feature. pm if you want the code, it worked for my jensen and might work for you

What model have you got, and do you have the remote control for it?

Different models use a different sequence. And you have to have the control to type it in.

EDIT: Duh, I'm a bit slow at 4:30 am. I thought you were asking for help with this.
