Best Suspension Upgrades for 2g DSM's

Im looking to build an autocross/road rally car with my 2g gst.. so I plan on starting out upgrading handling and braking first.. I plan on doinng an awd conversion down the road.. but for now im just looking for some opinions on the best setup to go with, what parts to go with, any any other ideas that would help me with my goal

Or go with a KW Variant 3 setup if your budget is bigger.

Modified front crossmember to raise the inboard lateral arm pickup (helps keep arm in correct position/angle when lowering the car).

Sway bars.
Poly/spherical bushings.
Fender braces (made by only one person).
SPC upper front control arms (if you can find them as they're discontinued) or some other way to adjust camber in the front.
Adjustable sway bar end links (can find a write up on here for the front units).
Adjustable rear control arms (currently only made by 1 or 2 people).

That should keep you busy for a while. Feel free to search around on here as there is plenty of info on most of this.

What about these? I can't seem to get any feedback from anyone externally, they share the same features of the DG Koni coilovers, minus the helper spring, which really isn't necessary if the proper length springs are used and they're set up properly. Internally, a third party, non-affiliated break down of the shock seems to show the same valving design, make-up, and materials of the $3k+ Penske/Ohlins units. With that said, my assumption would be that performance performance would be just as similar...

I'm going to give the boring anwser and say replace all of your bushings and replace your struts...

Remember that even the most recent 2g's are over 13 years old at this point. I've never seen a set of struts/bushings last more than 10 years.

After these I would say a set of springs and sway bars. Coil overs are great (I have them on 2 of my cars), but they tend not to last very long (Lasted <5000 miles and 2 years on my race car) before I had to send them back to bilstein to get rebuilt.

The kid that owned the car before my buddy did started to upgrade the suspension its got a set of lowering springs (not sure of brand of springs they are) in it with KYB Struts (again not sure of what type), the rears are adjustable but im not sure about the fronts I would imagine that they are tho.. the car sits about 4 inches of the ground with the setup it has now..

@ Snowboarder714 this modified crossmember you speak of, is this something you can do yourself or does it have to brought somewhere.. if I can do this myself is there any specs and instructions anywhere for this modification? Also these fender braces, I've heard of these but never actually seen them so im not really sure what they are or how you benefit from them.. if you could give me a ref to check out or fill me in that would be great, other than that I appreciate the list

The crossmember is not easily done by yourself without a jig. But basically you cut the inboard lateral arm pickup off and weld it back on in a higher position.

As for the fender braces, look for an ad in the Freelancer section of the classifieds.

So is there a company that does this modification or specs to build the jig to do so that you know of? Or specs how much higher the pickupp should be or is this based of the ride hight of the car itself? Again thank you your help is very appreciated

What ever happened the thread made by a, vendor I believe that was making a coilover setup for the 2gs? They had pillowballs for the rear and. were working on them for the front.

They said they were using 99-03 subie wrx setup to help mock up a pillowball setup for the front. It was last year I do believe. They were going to have a near fully adjustable setup when finished if they were able to make the pillowballs for the front.

Tbh I'm not sure just know that was the last thing I had read. They were saying that it was similar to how the 2g front suspension was. I never actually looked up the subie suspension.
