Ok so ive been really wanting to build a nice little rock/trail rig, and i was thinking about a 4g63 and how if i can get good throttle respone and low end power, so im wondering what the best set up would be.

such as intake runner length, cams, rods, compression ratio. that kinda stuff.

i think short intake runners, 9:1:1 compression ration 272, 263 cams

what do you guys think?

Well also look into get supporting mods for your set up, turbo choice, tuning, etc. Stroker is a good set up my buddy runs a 2.3 on his spyder with a evo turbo, its nice power.

would a stroker really give me that much low end? and i would do supporting mods, and lots of protection so nothing gets smashed, and id like a 14b or a t25.

and id set the rev limiter to like 4k so i could hold it to the floor if need be

i wanna have the 4g63t, with a nice low range drivetrain. possibly a f150 manual tranny with the stock trnsfercase. ive had one and it was crazy loow geared. but id need a bellhousing made. anyone think this is a good idea?

You should look in to a dodge d50 transmission and transfer case. They run a narrow block engine so the transmission will bolt right to the 4g63.

sweet. i wanna make a full tubular chassis

what do you belive a good intake would be?

Stroker motor would be a huge difference in low end power. Higher compression pistons will also help a little with off boost torque. Short intake runners should help with torque as well. I am still using the factory IM, but extrude honing it would open it up quite a bit more. As for cams with a stroker engine, stroker engines like big cams, I wouldn't go with anything less than 272's. Many people run 280s with stroker motors and they idle like stock almost. The FP3x (cams designed by FP specifically for Stroker engines) are very nice and they idle like a factory engine would. There's really no lope to them at all.

Most off the shelf aftermarket intakes you find are going to have longer runners than the factory intake. They will open up the top end a ton, but you're going to lose torque. I would stick with the factory intake and possibly have it extrude honed if you have the cash for it. You may be able to find a factory intake already extrude honed as well. They pop up on the classifieds every now and then.
