Shiloh,
I am about to get a turbo back (3") done by a local speed shop. Here is my dillema. I am probably going to end up with a 60-1 turbo or something close to it, and I want it to be externally gated. The problem is the o2 housing. When I get my exhaust done, it will be made to fit my 1g o2 housing, but will I run into issues when I get a tubular o2 housing made for an external gate? Will it bolt up to the same downpipe? I do not want to get an o2 eliminator dp because I want the car to be emissions legal for as long as possible, so that is out of the question. I thought about getting the external gate flaged on the exhaust manifold, but I heard that having it on the ex. manifold isn't as good as the o2 because it only affects 1 runner as opposed to all 4. What is the best way to go? Is it possible to get a dp made that will fit the stock 1g housing AND the externally flanged o2 for the larger turbo? Or would I have to look into externally gating the 14b and get the downpipe made to fit the tubular o2?

I am almost positive that you will be fine just have the bolt right to your current o2 housing. The only difference between a tubular one might be the length, buy a little bit.If it didn't bolt up to the exhaust alot of people would be s##t out of luck cause the would have plan every little part of there exhaust ahead of time before they even got it.

yes it will work. Just about all tubular o2's are made with the same flange. Like the guy above me said length might be the only issue. And what the hell are you talking about o2 eliminators arent street legal? The only way it wouldnt be is if you get an o2 dump. I have an o2 eliminator and it routes the wastegate back into the exhaust just like stock. Nothing illegal about it.

O ya and if im not mistakin a tubular exhaust manifold with an external wastegate mounted on it is at the collector where the 4 runners meet. Much better than an o2 mounted one or one mounted on just 1 runner of a manifold IMO.

The reason why I'm asking is because, the downpipe is going to be a 3", the 1g o2 housing isn't even 2.5" unported (If I recall), how does that work out then without necking the downpipe?
