Best Place To Buy Trans.

Hey i am looking to get a new trans. I dont want to use local auto parts stores to find one because they like to mark up the price. Is there such thing as sending in a core and getting a different rebuilt tranny back? I was kind of hoping to get some money back with sending in the core. So who makes the best rebuilt trans for a fair price and will accept cores? Thats the real question.

I see that shep sell new tranny but what year tranny is he selling. i have a 1990 i not even going to bother to upgrade that thing. i want to put in a short shifter kit.
