What should i Get

I want somthing that basically restores the gears, synchros, etc, somthing for older transmissions ( one with 107k miles)

Somthing that best improves shifting, stops grinding, etc

i was stuck between these

BG synchro shift, redline manual tranny fluid, synergyn syngear II

They al say the same stuff, but which one has anyone had experience with?

Like if ## car was hard to get into a gear, or it grinded, what fluid did u put in that stopped it?

or which fluid did u notice made a difference over the oem fluid

If Jon at TRE says syncromesh is too thin, i trust him. Go with Redline MTL.

Synchromesh or Synchroshift are probably fine for a stock, or minor bolt-on car. If your making more power than this, then I'd advise to stay away from this fluid too. I ran BG synchroshift, I also took out my 3-4 slider (common when you run to thin of fluid) as well as some other gears/shafts on the way.

My new tranny will run MT90 as per Jon ;)

I'm running a 14B @20psi on a stock n/t tranny and it has never missed a lick with royal purple synthetic. And I BEAT on this car

wow a lot of different opinions here. My tranny has been a weak spot in my car since I got it last year (it had 164k miles on it), it has a hard time getting into first specially when the car is still rolling, fourth gear has to be put in in a kind of 'slant' I cant just go straight down or Ill go into second, and reverse takes a few tries to go in. Anyhow Im gonna go ahead and replace the fluid but Im not sure what brand to trust. I hear that adding certain brands will actually eat away at the sinchros and others will cost me my tranny.

I dont have too many mods just a MBC, ACT 2100, and k&n filter, I just want my car to be able to shift smoothly which brand would you guys recommend? should I use synthetic?

With your mileage and mods I would just be anxious to drain whats in it and see how shiny it is. I think a synthetic of the proper weight should do you just fine. I know a guy who ran some cleaner through his (name is slipping my mind) and it actually did him a lot of good.

Im sorry but what does it mean if its shiny?

i have always used bg syncroshift/redline shockproof combo in the trans and shockproof in the t case and rear end. i may switch to the amsoil cause my friend is a dealer and he has been on me to switch-he states its the BEST:cool: i dunno we'll see

There's basically two main types of fluids that people recommend:
1) BG Synchromesh (many other brands sell the same or very similar fluid too) - thinner and with additives that help the synchros grab better. These will usually improve shift quality.
2) Heavier gear oils, like Redline MT-90 - these provide more protection for the transmission so they're better to use with higher power cars (maybe even with lower power ones that see hard launches?)

i have put royal purple in everything i have owned from trans oil, to engine oil and have never had a problem. the cars ranged from almost new to really high miles.

What would you guys MOST recommend on a 2G AWD tranny with high highway miles (160k).

Both the T/case and tranny.

WTF Isn't that what this whole thread is about?!

To spoon feed you, I personally run the Diaqueen EVO MR trans fluid from mitsu. I'd recommend that or one of the Redline products, MT-90 or MTL for the transmission.

Redline shockproof heavy for the transfer case and rear dif.

Haha...there were so many different answers that I thought i'd cut to the chase.

I was running redline products before...looks like I'll continue.

My gs tranny has 109k on it and what i get from all this is i should use the redline or a 50/50 mix with bg? the car has been sitting for awhile ### i recently moved and the tranny is completly dry.:hmm:
