Best FMIC kit and where to buy it

FOR THE PRICE, what does everyone think the best FMIC kit is? I planned on buying a core and doing the piping myself, but then decided it would be too much work so I'll just blow my tax return on a kit.

I've been looking at the GReddy large core kit (not the XL) that extremepsi sells. But I noticed that it "requires" another 3 piece piping kit (an additional $200) which would put it over $1,000. So there goes my cheap kit. Does anyone know of a COMPLETE kit in the $700-800 range that's any good?

The other problem is my crappy '96 body style. I've never seen a FMIC on a '95/'96, and just looking at it, I don't see much room. Has anyone here done it before (without switching to a '97+ bumper) and how hard is it?

I'd say that's the best FMIC on the market for 2g's. Endtanks designed in Pro Engineer to maximize flow through the intercooler. It's not as cheap as you're looking for, but worth the money, VERY much so. Complete kit is $1200 pipes, intercooler, and all mounting hardware.

I am going to order that kit this summer, did you get the street kit or the race kit??

I just started with a 30x12x3 core that I had from another project. Had to cut the bumper support, and made the pipe myself. THere is quite a bit of the IC still up in the bumper but instead of cutting the bumper cover, I got 2 8inch fans on the back of the IC to help airflow. I think most people switch to the 2gb front end because of the bigger opening, and looks.

That intercooler is ginormous. I think that would be overkill for my setup. Looks awsome on your car though.

In response to luvmygst... That's what I was worried about. I've been looking for a really short IC like this one my friend used, but don't know how I would route the piping:

I think something like that will fill that opening perfectly, and even though its not very big I'd assume its still far better than the side mount, or would it restrict airflow too much?

How much of the bumper plastics did you have to cut or remove? I'm assuming the ac HAS to go, which I don't mind because it doesn't work anyway. I just look to me like that bumper is too curved and tight to fit anything behind it without massive cutting.

Check out extreme intercoolers. They will have a short fmic that you can use for pretty cheap too.

I had to cut the whole middle out of my bumper support. As far as the bumper, I only had to cut a little off the bottom and take out the little grille in the lower bumper opening. Other than that it fit pretty good. The core actually came from ssautoandchrome. It was part of a turbo kit for a 240sx, but it would not fit in that car it has less room than I have.

There is NO such thing as overkill for an intercooler. The more effecient the core, the better the flow and cooling.

It's the "street" kit. 2.5" piping from the turbo to the TB (New TB elbow included) with room for a GM MAF.
