Best Clutch for 300hp goal

I don't know how many times I've said this, but the DSM community at large has had much success with the ACT clutch kits. We stick with them ### they're affordable, durable, and dependable.

For AWD purposes, the 2600 kit with either the XACT flywheel or Fidanza Flywheel is your best option for streetability with some track use.

Yep thats the clutch, only i have a 6 puck disc. So far ive just been daily driving on it with a few launches and ill tell you it grabs, but is also not a problem for street driving.
Currently have about 5k on it and it feels just as good as when i got it.

A 6 puck compared to a full face street disc, is more of a race style clutch. A good disc for a DD and weekend track monster. IMO

BTW: Ive had the ACT2600 and prefer the spec over it

I have heard some good and bad things about the XTD clutch kits on ebay. Seem to be a lot cheaper than the ACT line. Anyone have any expierence with those? May be worth looking into if you are low on money.

we have quite a few options from Spec or Competition in that range. You would like the Stage 2. the stage 3 is awesome but grabs hard and some find it over bearing and i don't like it for AWD trannies myself.

:thumb: THIS is what I wanted to hear realy, I am realy leaning on gettin the slowboy 3500 Kit, over the Act 2600. But everyone keeps telling me the 2600 act, the only reason im even hesitant is a buddie's been thu 2 of them in his 90 fwd laser with the exact same set up im puttin in, But he also drives his HARD, WAY harder than i ever do.

Now he had a problem with the spring's commin out or breaking loose and not realy the clutch burning up.

Spec stage 3 by far is the best bang for the buck. Ive had the stage 2 for a year and a half with over 40 lauches and its still working hard. The pedel feels like stock and yet it grabs a lot harder. When i et my shpard tranny im going to go with the Act flywheel from shepard racing for $200 and the Spec stage 3 for $289 from titan motorsports. Great deal on the clutch by the way!!

So i have a 1999 eclipse gsx, and my clutch is going. I want to know what clutch would be best for $350. The car has intake and bov right now but within a year it will have right around 300whp. So which clutch do you guys recomend me getting? also any flywheel suggestions would be good, and im obviously a little tight on $$$. A link would be awesome or just tell me ill find it. Thanks to all.

Hey man heres my experience after 2 Ebay clutches, dont get those, I just ordered a clutch from MAP Performance its the Fidanza 3.2 four puck they gave me a good deal on it and its not too bad on streetability and holds 500hp, as for a lightweight flywheel I have an Ebay one and had no problems its an XTD.

If you want the price on the clutch PM me and Ill tell you

yeah thats the one i was looking at. looked pretty good. As for the ebay flywheel...idk bout that, there are certain things i just wont buy from ebay, its not neccesarly one of them but idk, im going to keep looking around.

well from what i read the 2100 would be good for 300whp but for a front wheel drive car....

yeah well ill see if i can squeeze a few $$ outta my dad....hehe but as for the flywheel link i posted up, will that work with the fidanza 3.2?

I recommend the Centerforce Dual-Friction clutch, it's great for the street with a bit pedal pressure than stock. The CF falls between ACT's 2100 and their 2600. I use my Laser as my D.D. and it's perfect for a night at the Strip (Milan) or when I hit up one of the local tracks on the weekend. As for the flywheel if you keep it OEM make sure you get it "stepped" when you get it resurfaced before you install your new clutch, but a lighter aftermarket flywheel will help you engine rev up a light faster. You can have the stock flywheel sent out to Road Race Engineering and they can shave about 5lbs off it and you can still have an OEM part, or you can go aftermarket. I have had mine lightened and have used a lightweight flywheel. The difference really shows when you shift gears from stock the lighten. My lightweight flywheel was an eBay special by XTD, and it hasn't given me any problems. However I read a few reviews about XTD clutches saying their throwout bearing goes bad really quickly, now I know there is a lot of eBay bashing going on on the forum so I figured it was just a couple of stories that got blown out of proportion. I tried one on my lightly modded Miata thinking it doesn't make too much power, but I was wrong it took about 8 mths driving for the t-bearing to seize and take out the pressure plate and F up my flywheel. So for the clutch go with a proven company, hope this helps.:laser:

I already tried the kevlar four puck clutch from Fidanza it's pretty much garbage. I would highly recommend the stage under it which is the Full face street disc made of kevlar material. It's holding up great and launches just a tad less aggressive than the four puck but it also feels twice as smooth and doesnt jitter. I drive an AWD 95 GSX

I have had nothing but the best of experiances with my centerforce df clutch, and I am at ~400whp.
