Best/Cheapest gauges for blue LED switch

Ok well looking at the price on C2, Lunar, Apexi EL gauges makes me cry, so I was thinking... why not just get el cheapo and throw a blue LED in it? To my knowledge no cheap Autometer comes in blue.

So my question is... can you change Sport Comp, Carbon Fiber, AND Ultra-lite to LED backlit? I would assume so, but it would be great to know for sure Thanks

yes, you can jimmy rig your stock lightbulb harness and just jam an LED in there. stick the leads in the slots, and wire in an appropriate resistor on the positive side of the LED. it helps to sand the top of the LED down, too, so that it is flat instead of round. this helps to disperse the light in a wider pattern. if you are going to use the radioshack blue LEDs (the 2600mcd ones), then use 330-ohm resistors.

Ok i love the way the cobalt gauges look but damn if i'm gonna spend the money for them! I have a autometer phantom Boost gauge and it comes with a 194 socket style light bulb. They come with 2 color caps for the bulb red and green and i think you can buy other colors off there website, but i'm not gonna do that! So i went to Circuit City and went and got a 194 Style LED bulb in blue and replaced the light and it loos great so any gauge that take a 194 bulb you can buy a led bulb that will just slip right in i think Ractive made the led bulbs! let me know if you have a hard time finding them and i'll see what i can do!
