Hey guys I own a 91' GSX
 1. 16g Turbo
 2. MAF Translator
 3. 3 Inch Turbo Back
 4. 550cc Injectors
 5. K&N Intake
 6. Turbo XS Boost Controller
 7. Greddy Turbo Timer
 8. Pillar Gauges (Boost/Pyrometer)
I'm just wondering which BOV would be best for my set up, it's a daily driver but I want good performance out of it. What's your guy's opinons on the best BOV for the car?:dsm:

ahhhh. what do you have a for a o2 housing? if its all about the sound go with a external dump on your internally gated b16g

Stock would be my choice because it doesn't cost 200 odd bucks. But if you have to have a BOV for the cool sound, I would get something other than the type-s. It sounds pretty weak IMO and it is a pretty BOV so it doesn't sound that unique at all. I have a type-s on my Talon thanks to the previous owner. When I get some money that isn't needed for something much more important I'll probably buy a different BOV and sell the greddy.

You dont, its all about that cool little sound man, the cool little sound....
Do the dodge mod and you can get some nice sound out of it. I did it to my stock BOV and love it. Still waiting to get some video so I can let everyone else hear what it sounds like.

Do you have a link to this "dodge mod"?? Ive never heard of a dodge mod as far as my BOV goes.

Id stick with the stock bov.......proven performance and save you money to put towards other parts on your wish list.

I have had the greddy type rs before and it worked fine, I just didnt care for the noise....now I have the type S and I love it, 20 psi and no leaks.

Do you want something that just works? Or do you want something to scare people on the sidewalks while you blow by?

Something that works: 1G BOV proven many times over.

Scare people: Turbosmart Megasonic BOV

The only complaint/warning about the dodge mod is those direction are not 100% accurate.(that or I just screwed up) But I found that a 6mm die on some 3/16th brake like will NOT fit in a 6mm taped hole. The 6mm tap recommends a big hole drilled than 9/64ths. So i drilled it out to the size the tap told me too and the hole ended up being to big. I ended up getting lucky by flaring the tubing a little after I ran the die over it and got it to grab some threads with help from the JB weld.

Just an FYI, i'm not using the fast release and its still plenty loud and gets a lot of looks.

Does it open under low boost? I was thinking of doing this mod myself. Does it cause compressor surge at a lower boost ? I know its good for like 30 so psi :sneaky: :thumb:

It opens under low boost. It has a very faint whistle at low boost. But sometimes if i build some boost in the lower gears and just let off the gas and not press in the clutch it feels like i'm getting a little surge, but im not sure. High(above 10) it sounds like.......well its hard to describe(buts its louder and less of a slow, "woosh" stock sound. (sounds more like a quick sneeze I guess) Hopefully I can get video/sound clip soon. I might try the fast release just to see the sound difference, but that probably won't be for a while.

Good to hear that its not super tight at lower boost. I might just try this as i have a local Junk Yard that has tons of DSM's in it. Every now and then they get a Turbo in there. Thanks for the info.

alright thanks a lot guys...I mean I was goign to keep it stock at first but then I got some money for my birthday and wanted one...So I was just wondering which one would be best...Thanks a lot for the imput

If you are on a tight budget then go with a crushed 1g, SHOULD be able to hold about 22psi fairly easily, and when you decide that ain't good enough then do it once and go with a Tial. Nothing is worse than going with a type S and then 3 months later when you decide to run 30psi with a new turbo you realize the junk type S provides this tsunami sized boost leak. To be honest I would just go with the Tial right off the bat with a 7-9psi spring, cause it'll work for any application you change to, unlike an S.
