Just like the topic says,I want to hear some opinions on what is the best boost controller out right now, wether its a manuel or electronic doest matter.

Manuel is the guy that was standing outside Home Depot looking for work as z24frank was going inside to buy the parts to build his own MBC.

And Yes. Building your own out of parts from a hardware store works just fine. I built one a while back when I didn't have the funds to buy a name brand one. It's not too scientific to figure out how they work.

Thats a link to building your own manual boost controller costs about 12 bucks at home depot would like to see if anyone tries it out how it works

I've built a couple of those. They've worked well for me. I have one currently in my room mates tsi. It's been holding 22 to 24 psi depending on gear / load. Nice little pieces for the money. I don't have picture's on hand, but I could take some when he gets home if you really want to see what a bunch of brass fittings look like. Mine cost about $19 total.

Ever heard of the AEM tru-Boost gauge type controller?
I use it and absoutly love it. It serves as a boost controller and boost guage.

AEM TRU-BOOST

hallman pro, it was inexpencive and looks nice under the hood.

I agree. I recently purchased the Hallman Pro RX mbc and I love it. Solid control, easy to use, and it looks great. Much better than my old TurboXS HP mbc.

I like manual boost controllers due to their simplicity.

That AEM truboost thingie does look pretty sweet and simple, and being able to comine a controller and gauge into one is convenient. That's still too electronic for me. With the true manual, mechanical is usually more reliable than electric. And for the price of AEM's unit, $350 could get you a LOT in our world which do NOT have cheaper and just as reliable counterparts.
I had never fooled around with a boost controller when I had received my turbosmart unit. Took 3 minutes to take off the stock unit, 2 minutes to get the new controller set up, and I havn't had any problems with it in 4 years.

I have used an Apex'i AVCR, one of the best EBCs out there. It is crap. Way too many useless functions that just get in the way of obtaining a simple boost level. It either spikes or doesn't boost.

Says the guy who probably didn't read the manual ROFL Well actually the manual it comes with is pretty useless, its much better to google search on how to set it properly/what each setting does.

I have the AVC-R & for a fwd I would say its most defently the best boost controller out there. I get perfect control with it, its not all that complicated once you take the time to learn it & boost can be fully customized in every gear. No pushing a button to get a different boost level, it does it automatically for you. Its expensive, but for a fwd I don't think it can be beat. Im probably going awd & will still keep this controller, its expensive but I think it works great :thumb:

I have my own opinion & so does everyone else on here. Some swear by MBC's & think EBC's are completely useless, while others are the complete opposite. Probably best to take the info you learn here & research more on the specific models your interested in.

Also remember most DSMer's are about as cheap as they come, I have no doubt the MBC will win ROFL
