Would I need to chip my ECU to be able to pull off 11's and run with cams? Would I have any idle issues without the ECU chipped?

compression said:usually with big cams you sacrifice idle. thats just the way it is. i think you can get into the 11's without a chipped ecu, and it has been done plenty of times, and i feel like im going to be one of the many people soon.
If emissions aren't an issue, then yes that is pretty much all you sacrifice. If you need to pass smog however, big cams are going to give you some trouble.compression said:usually with big cams you sacrifice idle. thats just the way it is.
Do you still have the car set to idle at 750 RPM or did you raise it?dsm-onster said:Just for the record. I have zero idle issues running FP2Xs, which are fairly aggresive cams. The idle "note" is different. More thump, but no lump.

I am sure DSMLink gives you tuning advantages especially with timing advance (and I will be getting it soon hopefully) but I didn't think it was that hard to hit high 11's with the EVOIII with just a logger and afc.....and a 2G mas/stock suspension/stock head/gasket/studs/cams to boot.evotuner said:I am sure DSMLink gives you tuning advantages especially with timing advance (and I will be getting it soon hopefully) but I didn't think it was that hard to hit high 11's with the EVOIII with just a logger and afc.....and a 2G mas/stock suspension/stock head/gasket/studs/cams to boot.

None of us said it was the only way, just our preffered way, and IMO the best.
The power is there to go mid 11's I just need more seat time and to quit babying it.
Get the Link you will be impressed with it. A 1g NEDSM guy put link in and went 11.60's at ~120mph on an EVO 16g a few months ago, I know it was a big improvement for him but I don't know what his times were before.
Was meant to mean that DSMLink isn't the only way to hit 11's, and as far as the mph goes, that was with stock cams. With cams last year I was hitting 117-118 as well.
