Hello,

I'm not sure if this is the right name of the part but last time i was in Highway with my cruise speed set at 60 mph and after 60 mph the car has stopped !

I'v checked the belt and it was destroyed :-( Now can somebody tell me how you call the valves that i've to change? how do you call them ? valves train ?

I want purchase over internet these parts but i cant find teh right site.. can sombody tell me where i can go for this????
Let me know..

thanks

Ok i assume, being in europe your english isnt to good, correct?

Lets start at the basics. Your timing belt broke, and your afraid your pistons met your valves in a very negative manner, right? What car is this? An older Eclipse (1st gen?) or a 2nd gen? Turbo or non-turbo?

Fill us in a little bit more and we can direct you to the proper areas to help ya out man.

(and if your timing belt DID go, your motor is really gonna be be screwed, requiring a major rebuild. Let me know the model/type and ill point out where to get the parts)

yes correct that's the belt that is ####ed.... and i'm sorry for my english... anyway i've got a mitsubishi eclipse gsx turbo 92/93 dont remember exactly the year.. not sure about the generation.... if 1g or 2g.... :-(

anyway I've spoke with the mechanic he said that the parts to replace are 3 kits ... he spoken about valves and some manifolds (not sure) anyway tomorrow I'll ask ExACTLY what's broken but if you can tell me now... it's will be better.....

I Was just thinking in this case to make a little upgrade .. Can I replace these parts with someother of better regarding valves????? Let me know what's the best solution... he said the cost of the final operation will be € 1500 about... (something like $ 1200)

I really dont know if to repair it or buy a new one... :-(

thanks for your help guys..

Thats not a bad price for europe i imagine. BTW you have a 1st Generation (1st gen) DSM.

Your pistons are shot, and your valves are difinatly bent to shit. Have the mechanic tell you everything else, as the damage can extend further or less than this alone.

For a start, try http://www.summitracing.com/

Summit carries ALOT of parts for your car, including rebuild kits, pistons, and gaskets. No matter what youre looking at a lot of money.

In the preformance sense, yes you can definatly purchase better valves, cams, and pistons for your motor. This will make it better and stronger in the long run, allowing you to run higher boost safely (with the appropriate side mods of course).

Rember when searching, youre looking at pistons, valves and maybe even rods at the least. Keep us informed when your mechanic takes a look at the internals, and we can help better guide you from there.

ok thanks a lot for the explanation

but why u say that the pistons are shot????? the mechanic didnt say this... anyway that car need a general upgrade he spoken about BEARING regarding the piston... anyway tomorrow I will let you know better thanks!

When the belt goes alot of the time the valves like mate to the pistons :notgood:

Basicly, they can make contact and seriously screw up the piston heads. It doesnt always happen, nor even do valves go every time either, its just what happens in the majority or cases it seems. I understand the balance shafts can also get demolished, thats another thing to look into it.

Its a little hard to tell you whats what though until you get it diagnosed. Once we know the parts you need, it becomes alot easier. :dsm: :talon: :laser:

(Excuse my english, im american and i drink too much) :rocks:

Ok.. found a new car (Same Car) at $2000 ... the only problem is the sync of the 2nd gear that is giving some probs...

Anyway i will let switch some parts from the damaged car... I think i've been lucky.. anyway tomorrow I will check this new car.... the best thing is just to buy this new one.

:thumb:

ehm.. sorry again but I saw that used car and Really I 've to say I found a lot of difects on it!! including the 2nd gear that was screeching , cruise control dosent works, the stop pedal was even so hard to push... no sun roof , radio antenna dosent works too , and a lot of hole and damages on the body !! But the motor was perfect.
So now I'll wait (Today) that my mechanic will open the engine and he will tell me about the total damage for my car!

Anyway it's crazy that I cant find another same car here to buy with NO PROBLEMS... very very hard to find here unfortunally..

Some good news : My mechanic said only valves seems to be damages so basically i need to replace 16 valves!!!! (sound a bit weird every valve is broken but i can do nothing to know if this is true) and he told me also that pistons seem to be GOOD!

HE will tel me tomorrow how much I'm gonna spend for the entire job! (I'm a bit scared for the price) also he wanted to replace any belt (timing and services one)

Can somebody help me providing me some information about upgraded valves (if they exist) or something like that? I want to get more performance for my engine now.. let me know it
thank you!

:)
