battery indicator flickering and shutting off

my car over the last few days has had this problem that is drivin me crazy. the battery light indicator keeps flickerin, and at the same time, the car wants to shut off. it keeps doin this all the time durin when im drivin. does anyone have any ideas wat it could be?? i believe its the alternator but im not sure. thanx a lot.

test the voltage on ur battery... start the car disconnect the battery it should stay running... if it dies it's ur alt

Tie down the battery, insulate the positive terminal, and keep it from grounding on the underside of the hood.

Brace for a new alternator.
