I had one nice car but the 4G64 engine you have has so many limitations. you wont be able to find and intake that works.what i had on mine was a 2000-2003 eclipse intake. the newer eclipse has an ALIKE ENGINE but the trottle body is to the right side and your engine is to the left but if you turn the pipe around it will fit your car.my friend has a 2000 eclipse i took his pipe and tried before i bought mine.buy a nice filter like AEM,injen.k&n SOMETHING DESCEN.

Air intake and filter
catback exhaust
get new spark plugs and wires by NGK
do a tune up to the engine

this is pretty much the very basic mods i had on my spyder but after this you should feel a little difference.

i would say start with a cold air intake. something like aem is a good brand. then go with an exhaust

Are you even reading these threads or just bumping them to get your 30 posts?

jus putting in my opinion. i read the other posts...

i couldnt care less to b a proven member. jus want to b apart of a good dsm community

You obviously aren't reading these. If you had read this thread you would see that he already has a CAI AND exhaust.

i dont know alot aout the 2.4 but a bigger tb, set of cams, slightly bigger injector's, and a good old fashioned dyno tune can go a long way. Theres alot of honda guys squeezing a good 75hp with jus those few mods on smaller engines

Tech Guide: 2G 420A Power Upgrades - DSMtuners

Here, read and go at it! But in all reality, I wouldn't bother getting much power out of a N/T Auto FWD.

Which makes me think; why the hell did DSM waste their time making a N/T Auto FWD convertible Eclipse in the first place?!

fuel economy plays a big part in a company makin n/a vehicles. My question is y did they make the 1g's with 3 different engine options

The spider doesn't have the 420a motor though. Well you pretty much have the things I would do. Unless you don't have a set of headers yet. You can always buld the block to handle boost and do the dohc swap and turbo. All opinions and things that can be done.

Affordability, or something stupid like that.

Oh, I've gotten that.. But was it really all that necessary LOL, the top model came at a decent price imo so they should've sticked to it. And yes; it's quite stupid to have offered them with 3 different engines... Ah well, seeing that they produced the 3g and 4g Eclipses shit box after that it doesn't really surprise me.

Apparently they thought so. :toobad: I agree with you though. Turbo DSM's were pretty affordable all things considered. Especially next to the Evo. I'm guessing they were trying to appeal to people who just wanted something to run from point A to point B. Those who don't care about power. Or those who want to get their spoiled teenaged kid a new car for his birthday and didnt want him/her to have too much power. :idontknow:

I don't really know much about NT autos but wouldn't a upgraded transmission cooler make a huge difference? I know it won't add any performance but wouldn't there still be shit tons of heat building up on the transmission after several pulls?

I'd really like to know now :p

You could do other mild forced induction ideas like TRUE ram-air or cowl induction. However these will maybe in the BEST conditions add at most 15 crank HP.

You can do the cheapest version of cowl induction with the extra washers mod to prop the hood up a bit more. This isn't really that effective but I hear it does amazing things at lowering engine temp and could possibly add maybe 1-2 HP. But shit for the cost of 10 cents 1-2 HP isn't bad at all!

Eureka! I think this might be the only legit reason :p
