Ball Joint went out :/

yea no charge! just that the parts are back ordered so i will have to go without my eclipse for another whole week :( !!!!!

You may actually be the luckiest DSMer I've ever heard of. I've heard/read dozens of stories about how Mitsu replaced the LCA, and went as far as labor for the axles etc. but would under no circumstances replace the parts for free. Those would be purchased at retail.

Please add your experiences to the ball joint recall super thread. Come to think of it, why isn't this already there?

idk if they're going to fix the fender and side skirt but honestly that was the least of my worries since im getting the back/front bumpers and side skirts from a 2gb.. but yea i couldn't believe it myself that they were doing all that without giving me a hassle.

I would suggest MOOG ball joints. I will try to find a link for them. I used to have a 6G73 (V6) Dodge Avenger. Blew a ball joint out twice. First time I was going 65mph down the highway. Ball joint broke and I started hopping violently down the highway. Not a fun ride. Cars were all around me but luckily I was able to keep the car in my lane. Basically wheelie hopping down the highway for 100 yards before coming to a stop on the side of the road.

Third time I replaced the ball joints, I went with the MOOG ball joints. Never had a problem since. They are supposed to be the fix for the effed up ball joints on these cars.

Here are some pics of the Venge. Ended up getting hand cuffed because I told a cop to STFU. Wanted to tow my car and me pay the tow company $300 + $50 a day. My grandfather arrived with a truck and trailer before the tow truck got there and they still said they were going to tow it. Car was sitting for 3 hours total on the side of the road. After 2 and a half hours of sitting, the police said it had to be towed immediately.

State police came first and I told them I had a truck and trailer on the way. They said to call the state police station when it got there and they would block a lane of traffic for me so we could safely load the car.

Then the local boys came and well, it got ugly. They were young cops and VERY cocky. Bashed me so much. My father called them rent a cops to their face. Then I chimed in calling them super troopers. The one cop continuously bragged about when he had an Audi and and wrecked it and it didn't compare to my POS car with a broken ball joint. I was hot, sweaty, pissed, and told him to STFU. He about tackled me and cuffed me. Let me go though. But towed my "POS" and had to spend alot of $ to get it back.

Anyway, did alot of damage. Needed a new radiator, messed up my aftermarket front bumper, axle, turn signal was damaged, and a bunch of stuff. All from the whole front end slamming off the ground.

Here is a link to the MOOG ball joint. Something like this would be a good idea.

Better than a middle finger and a good day to you sir. Which is pretty much what I got...

I got mine scheduled to be done next week. Hope it goes well. I am expecting the "You gotta take dat talon to da Chrysler dealer" Even though they allready ran my vin and order the parts to fix all my open recalls.

Edit:

To the above. I would have sued the local pd. Especially if you had witnesses.

Thought about it. Called around and got alot of info on how to go about doing it. But never committed to doing it. I was in NY at the time on the way home from the pick-a-part. HATE NY! So, I was just happy to get my car back finally and get the hell outta NY.

As long as it's an open recall, they won't fight you one it. They will try to fight you when it's already been done once and you're trying to get them done again. I know some dealers will do it anyways, but that's few and far between. Looks like the recall was open on your car, hence why they are taking care of it. The blue 95 Talon I have had the recall open, as well.. so it got new straight-arm LCA's.

You really should. Thats borderline police brutality, but its definetly wrongful seizure of property. As long as it wasn't blocking the traffic. I know in alabama you have 24 hrs after they tag your car with an orange sticker or 48 with a yellow to get it off the shoulder/ditch.

I had the blowout on my celica in 04 while I was on the high way, called triple AAA and they came to fix it and the police pulled up to tag my vehicle when the AAA guy was leaving. I ended up chatting with the officer about how his brother had one just like it in high school.

I came to a stop on the side of the road between the slow lane and the on-ramp. But still out of traffic. This happened over a year ago so I doubt I could do anything about it now. I don't remember the officers names or anything.

I would be replacing all of by ball joints if one blew out haha thats got to be some scary shit.
