i have a 99 gs, im wanting to lower it but im sure ill rip shit off when i go driving around, so i was wondering about air bags, is anyone familar with em ? any good brands of sites to check out ? i have 235/40/18s on it and that lowers her a little but i want to make her look lower when shes still but when i get on the ruff roads around here i dont wanna tear up the bottom....
 
i have just heard that they are real bumpy, i dont know of any good brands, but i would go with a nice lowering spring or maybe a coilover, that would be better and much cheaper. IMO
 
My roommate has a lowered Ranger, running springs currently, but is looking at an adjustable suspension. I thought airbags were the way to go also. Chris had a whole stack of info, and found that hydraulics work faster with fewer mods (add batteries versus changing line size, valves, bags and compressors), and if you add reservoirs (hope this is the right term) the ride will have some cushion to it. Now, I am sold on the benefits of hydro's too. :)
 
one of the guys in our club with a eclipse has it on air cylinders.... it rides on how much air you have in it.... if its all the way up it rides like ass.... down not that bad... you have to find a happy medium on the ride.

I have a ton of friends with bags. As long as you get something quality and not put huge lines on little bags, you shouldn't blow bags or lines.

Also, I had a friend with hydrolics on a neon. Nothing but problems. It leaked all the time and was just a pain. He hit a bump (in construction) one night and the whole hydrolic arm broke and went up thru the rear wheel well. It was laying on the ground and took about 2 hours and 2 cracked side skirts to get it on a tow truck. He now has bags and hasn't had a problem.

my DSM has only had maintenance and a new clutch, shes been REALLY good in the five months ive had her. my dodge stealth TT AWD i blew 2nd gear synchro in two weeks. by three weeks i put three thousand miles on her.


But now in performance how are struts/bags? like if i lower the car, is it like having lowering springs, or is it just lower and a wavey ride? ive never ridden in one so im learning from ya guys, :)

the only opitons you have for a car since its unibody is either strut bags or aircylinders. both pretty much bolt right up. all the people ive talked to and the person in the club love their cylinders. ive heard alot more stuff about cylinders and it all seems to be good.

youll have to run airline, mount valves, run wire for switches and valves, mount tank, hook up compressor to tank., and some other stuff. if you want to run air gauges you can... makes it alot easier to figure out your happy medium for ride height and go back to it consistently.

the ride in my firends baged eclipse with air cylinders if ruff but its not as bouncy as a baged truck with no struts. correct me if im wrong but cylinders dont bounce as much as air struts.
