I cant seem to find a buyer for my car.... plenty of trades but not a buyer yet. I thought people would be all over this.

is there something I am doing wrong or is it just a bad time to sell?

I LOVE the car , wife needs something SHE can drive right now we have 2 cars both mine and the talon gets driven once a week. it has 60k , yes 60k on it and noone has even called offering the idea of cash yet... is DSM tuners not the place to advertize? CL didnt work. I really need a bigger car and this thing has been babied all its life , for a 91 its insanely nice.....

If you were closer I would of already made an offer on it. I just don't see it very practical on my end to have to drive that far or get it shipped. For the price its an amazing deal, but it becomes a little less amazing with the distance I would have to go. If something changes in my financial book I wouldn't hesitate to fly out there and drive it back.

2 buyers pending hopefully it goes to a well deserved home

i had quite the opposite problem..there were no good DSMs for sale around me...then i found one and despite its beat up outside it was a beauty on the inside

having a bit better luck with it now , pending a few people 2 on this site , 1 from craigslist. we will see though I am not getting my hopes up.

We really need the cash we found a house we want and this would be a good chunk of our downpayment =)

The problem I've found is that no lender wants to give you a loan for a car over 10 years old, especially if your credit report has anything negative on it at all.

I'd probably have bought another DSM instead of the SHO if I could've found a willing lender. I will own another AWD DSM soon, but right now I'm happy that I got a decent price I could handle with cash on what I consider to be a classy car and it's in great condition.

DSMs are getting popular with inexperienced newbies to the community now, and its hard to find one that hasn't been hacked up and molested by some high school punk who idolizes Brian Spilner, or just as bad, one that has been raped hard every day for 15 years and not maintained at all. You might not see it but the saying "Sh-- rolls downhill" is becoming true here. The trickle down depreciation of DSMs is directly resulting from the horrible examples of slapped together, rusted out, riced out, bondo bodykitted 420As out there that are grouped in with the higher value, low mile, mostly stock, unmolested AWD models like yours. I saw this first hand when my 80k mile 97 AWD 5 spd was totalled; the insurance company compared it to 3 older local N/Ts (all with at least 150k on them) in order to determine its worth. My car had spent its entire life in Arizona before I brought it here and had no rust. I argued and showed examples, but the adjuster wouldn't budge and knew that I needed to purchase a replacement vehicle in a hurry. I estimate that I lost about $4k from what I know it would have sold for.

Everybody is selling, nobody is buying.

GREAT time to buy a house though.

Much better investment than a DSM. ROFL

its 5000 obo.

mine is not nearly like "most" clean 1g's . according to chrysler I am the lowest mileage 1991 AWD turbo in the service records. I think 5k is fair , but if anyone else objects I am an easy guy to haggle with. I am very laid back guy :coy:

I emailed Dave and asked him , would be an honor for him to own my baby.

It's worth what your asking. It is quite a gem. Don't short change yourself.

actually been having luck lately , getting close to tax time I will sell by then for sure I hope.

My girl almost got me to sell mine for a evo x ..We both later realized how much work that went into her and how rare she is. we came to the decision to keep her forever. Gotta love a girl for that LOL

sounds like a keeper! ^ will find out tonight if the guy from alabama is a taker. I have taken ALOT of photos for him and we will see what he says , shes not perfect but as close to perfect as you can get for an 19 year old car

Oh god

Is this the one that was for sale back in Octoberish?
Because thats the same year/color and everything as one I found on Craigslist in MO(I'm in Burlington, Iowa) back awhile ago for 4200 or something, I called with full intentions of buying it. My sale fell through on my firebird. Then back in December, I checked for it on CL and didn't see it.

I had the money and was pissed at myself for missing out on it.

Granted I'm happy with my car I picked up for 4500... But god damn I'd kill for a stock mint 91 talon with that low of miles..

why yes it is , I am actually friends with john at baker motorsports and he is the one who was selling and I picked it up but right now other things are more important

I put 4800 because I just added the yokohama avid tires and they are like 90%

Ide actually take less if someone wants to bring steelies. but that takes away from the originalness

I work for a major bank.. Yoiu could always take out a personal loan instead of a secured car loan.. interest is higher but at least you are getting what you want when you want it... I recommend credit unions over banks always.. The absolute best way to get a loan is if you get a home equity line or loan on your property. btw if I was the owner of that DSM I would never sell it, I would garage it and cover it, wait a few years then take it to barret jackson in scottsdale AZ

man sounds bad, its a 20 yr old car. i just bought mine with a crap load of mods an honestly i didint pay alot for it. i was in luck because the owner didint drive it anymore an he was'int hurting for cash. its a buyer's market an if you got something that ppl want it will sell. keep it on the side an buy the old girl a hoopty delux. dont get rid of your toys.
goodluck with the sell

^ woah really?(aimed at barrett jackson comment)

I mean its a 19 year old car and has been driven , there is one small imperfection on the rear bumper , and the door handles show normal wear for 19 years old. but other than that its pretty immaculate especially inside.

my buddy eric said theres a 1g that mitsu took off the line and saved and its on display.

from what I hear 91 is the most desirable year too eh?

Yeah I would love to keep it , I was trying to run numbers yesterday and figure out if I could pay it off and just finance a practical DD but I still would be left with 2k short on a house downpayment. Me n my girl are living with the folks right now , thats kinda why I say I can't afford this , at the time it was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I told myself , I am gonna pass this down to my kid when hes 18. (not 16 he needs to prove himself with some seat time first) but Right now we need to move out and get started on our life. It hurts to part with her , but it was fun owning such a unique cool car , especially in this condition , I think most would agree to sell the car over living at mom and pops any longer. I am 19 and feel alot older than I am , I feel like I am way too old to still be at home , all my friends have their own places PLUS I still have the mkIII to play with =)

Your car is very clean and if I didn't have a fleet of DSM's here I would certainly pick yours up. Unfortunately the demand for DSM's are not as high as they once were, especially 1g's. Everyone is moving over to EVO's and Subaru's that soon enough this site will need to consider changing names. We go through DSM's like they're water here often time having to pay people to take them away. Aside from the motor and other parts they really aren't worth much. You can also look at how after market parts availability is going down and don't get me started on OEM parts not being available anymore.

I wish you good luck with your sale and hope you get your asking price.

^ in texas theres not alot of demand for 1g's yes , I have been around that area but trust me there is still a huge demand for them.

The guy from STL is a for sure buyer , We have talked and he owned one of these new and I really think he's a cool ass dude , I am glad the car will more than likely be going to him !

current offer is at 4500

I'm speechless, I don't think I can ever find a DSM as clean as that. It looked as if it just rolled out of the dealership the 1st time, even the paint is almost untouched. A car like that, I wouldn't mind keeping stock (with the exception of spending a bit of money on a nice set of rims). 5k I think is just fair and with that much original miles on it.

I feel your pain. I'm military and having o sell my 99 GSX and can't get a buyer. Only asking $3,500 and I've put way more into it.

Just wanted to say I feel your pain...

I have 99 GSX up for sale right now that has been listed for a few months...buyers seem interested but then they never come up with the cash. No one has even tried to chip away at the price. They just get flakey.

Mine is listed at $15k, which I agree is high for a DSM...but I have invested $62k in it. Ran a 9.89 1/4 mile and made 723awhp on the dyno. Still has full interior from back seats forward...touchscreen DVD...custom paint and body...the works. And I can honestly say there is nothing wrong with the car whatsoever.

Trust me...its a tough time to sell.

And I live down the street from Barret Jackson which is in town right now...they would laugh at putting an import on their auction block.

Good luck to you though...hope your prospects are better than mine.
