Bad sputter in high rpm/boost

In the process of getting my faulty gas gauged fixed, but while on my way to work i ended up running out of gas right at the gas station, so i put a half tank in and still wouldn't start, so i towed it home, next day, still wouldn't start, later that night i gave it a shot, started right up, runs great but now it sputters and spits at max boost (15psi) and high rpm, around 5-7k, is something clogged maybe? any help would be very appreciated.

You may have ingested sediment from the bottom of your tank in to the fuel system. If it ran fine before you ran her empty, then that would be my guess.

You can start by cleaning your plugs they might have a lot of soot on them or you can have the littlest slice in your spark plug wires and it could be arching to your valve cover that actually happened to me.

Start with basics.
1.BLT
2.plugs/wires/
3.fuel filter
4.Injectors
5.MAF
5.gas pump
6.coil pack/ transitor

Not trying to sound stupid but you did add premium fuel to it right? If you did, like mentioned above, start with checking your ignition system and fuel system.

Change your plugs with a new set of NGK BPR6es ones, and get a spare set for 8000 miles down the road. If you don't have them already, get a set of NGK wires too.

If you turn boost up to say 30 psi, you'll need to replace the plugs every 2000 miles. It's a good thing they're cheap and there are only four huh?.

Yeah! I put 16 in a Mercedes last month, and they were $9 irridiums. They did have 150,000 miles on them though, so I guess it evens out somewhat.

My car did similar issue last week would almost have a single misfire under boost changed plugs and wires and no more issue.

new wires didn't change anything, going to try new plugs and fuel filter tomorrow, hoping that will do the trick..

I was haveing a issue like this for a while and couldnt find out it was. Come to find out it was my fuel pump started dropping alot of voltage while in boost/wot. I rewired my fuel pump and bam all problems were solved. Might be somthing to look into aswell.

ill look into that, any other suggestions? now it sputters and pops at lower boost but high throttle, im so confused..

Try your injectors, maybe fuel pump if you ran it on empty.

Your sputtering may be coincidental. Just because this started at the same time you ran out of fuel doesn't mean you should suspect the fuel system automatically. I would check for boost leaks. Also check plug wire and spark plug conditions.

new wires and plugs, only other ignition thing i can think of would be coils, Theres no boost leaks, is there a way to check my injectors and pump?

Have you ran any kind of fuel system additive through it? I know its starting to get expensive but might be worth trying. Also check your old plugs to see if you might be running lean or rich on one or all cylinders

like these guys say above. check your injectors see if your getting fuel. check your wires see if your getting any spark. boost leak test and see if you have a loose vac hose, etc. does it feels like your car sputters on the freeway and wants to die? last thing check your maf sensor because if its sputtering than its no doubt your maf sensor. go buy one from auto zone and test it out. if its your maf than refund their maf and buy one off of here. hope this help
