Edmonton,
Before I parked my car for winter I was out at the track doing some fun runs. On one run I revved the engine up pretty high, probably hitting over 8000rpms. I then let the clutch out, and instead of getting an insane wheel spin all that I got was this horrible feeling of riding the clutch and it felt like and sounded like it didnt want to disengage??? Immediately after this the car smelt HORRIBLE and I figured I burnt the clutch. The clutch pedal is totally sloppy now too with way too much play. What happened, what did I do wrong, and what do I need to replace?

You did exacly that....burned a good layer of clutch disk away.

Take the car into 5th and then floor it...if u get alot of engine reves with and no speed increase, then your clutch is slipping and its time for a new one.

Fair enough, lesson well learned :) Where did I go wrong? Revving too high? If thats the case, how can I tell how high I can go before I let the clutch out?

Yep definatly way to high with the revs....rember that flywheel is spinning like crazy at 8000...it would be alot like shoving a piece of wood into a disk sander at that speed. The giant amount of sawdust would be your clutch plate.

I don't have a Turbo car but I've been browsing the forums along enough to know 6000 RPM with an AWD and a good clutch is about the max.... If it was me, I wouldn't go much past 4500 with a stock clutch.

You shouldn't own a car if your dumb enought to redline it and try to launch it.........

say bye bye clutch.....

Thanks very much. I guess I saved myself the cremation fee of my stock clutch hahah. Time for that racing clutch and self-control.

I believe the rev limiter for your car is 7500 rpm unless you have it removed. 55k is the highest I've ever launched, anything higher is insane on a stock tranny.

55K RPM? What were the rods made out of, tungsten carbide?
