hey guys i bought a auto zone pcv and i know it is a one way valve but i was burning oil and i took out my pcv and it can blow both ways could this be the cause of burning oil NOTE: it only burns oil in boost

how would this pcv even work i don't understand the hole concept of it LOL.:aha:

but the question is could this be my problem to burning oil >? in the pcv tube part there seemed to be some oil and the tube going to my I/M a little oil .

Well the bad PCV certainly doesnt help but i have had a few bad PCV valves and they were OEM and i never burned oil. I am sure you have a problem somewhere else for instance a bad oil seal on the turbo since it happens only in boost. Have you checked the turbo for shaft play?
I would still reccomend getting a proper working PCV no matter what. Even new OEM valves can fail. Bit i still believe your problem is somewhere else.

no i have not but it is a brand new turbo with about 200 miles on it . and my dipstick does not shoot out at all but i can take the pcv and blow threw it both ways one way is easy and the other is a little hard but it comes out i take my oem one and it only goes one way. out not in

could it be posable that when im in boost the pcv is failing and letting boost get into the crank and causing to much crank presser so it has no were else to go but up to the pistons ?

i only have a very little shaft play only side to side not in and out. the engine only has about 3000 on it. short block.

What about the head?

You only said short block... So was the head rebuilt or no? Reason why i ask because if under boost your intake would pressurize and blow boost into the valve cover and not allowing oil to be sucked through the intake and burned off. You would likely blow the dipstick. It would however suck in oil in vacuum but you said its not burning oil in vacuum. This leads me to believe turbo seals or worn valve seals/guides in the head. I dont have facebook so i cant see the video.. :(

well a long time ago it used to blow the dip stick out but i bought a new one so it does not pop out any more and no the head is 100% oem just lifters put in i have new valve seals but i don't know how to put them in ;/ and dang that is my dyno video LOL.

how do you replace the seals in the head can i do it with out taking it off ?

PCV wont make you burn oil at boost... but leak piston rings or bad valve stem seals allowing blow by gases and oil to be pressurized at the head with be burned off, which is routed through the pcv system.

Yes definetly get an OEM PCV and get the 3/8 size check valve in the link a few posts up. They are worth it and keep boost out of the valve cover while still maintaining the function of the PCV.
Good luck. :)

Thanks man i will keep you posted ! i have my oem pcv valve and tested it and it holds up unlike my advanced auto one witch i can blow threw both ways.ROFL

Did some work on the car today i took my pcv and set my air compressor to around 25psi and the pcv valve fails under that amount of air so i took my oem one and did the same test and it held up to it so i ut my oem one on. I also took off my little breather filter and hooked it back up to the turbo intake and i also took off my vc and looked around in there could not do a compression test didn't have the right parts for that . i took out my spark plugs and they all came up like a grey color you could say .
Took my j-pipe off to see if i have oil in the turbo and i don't thank god ! i have no shaft play at all today so thats good
took my oil stick out nd there was oil where the o-rings are .

So it leaves me to think i have a bad pcv valve that is making me burn oil under boost or bad valve stem seals .
