bad lifter

i have a bad lifter, what do i do to find out which one is bad. thanks

How do you know you have a bad lifter? Why not replace them all with revised lifters? There's a tool you can buy to make this pretty easy (don't have to use prybars or remove the cams)...eBay for like $30. Lifters can be had for about $110-$130 depending on where you go.

The stock lifters tend to get clogged with sludge and tick. If I had to guess, if you just replaced or cleaned one of them, another one would eventually start ticking (if that's you only problem with the lifter).

im selling the car, the tick is pretty loud more like a knock so i thought it was a rod bearing but took the oil pan off and they were fine one of the balance shaft seized up so i did the b.s.e kit and put it back together and the tick was still there put in som heavy oil the tick stopped for a few min.. but ist back now i have another head that has the lifters in them and there all good did you say theres a tool i can buy to replace the lifter without pullin the cams?? if so were do i get that at thanks

A few places for getting the lifter tool are mentioned in the thread below. The eBay one is something like $30 but I don't know what S&H costs...should get you started, though.
