Jumped timing or bad lifter???

My car was running fine, then I start it up 1 hour later and its making lots of top-end noise. The timing belt is fine and there is no visible damage to the valvetrain. Its making the noise right accross the top-end, Iam pretty worried. How many teeth does it have to jump for the valves to kiss the pistons? Timing belt is just as tight as it was when it was replaced 2 years ago. It DID have bad lifter tick previous to all this. I need advice, thanks in advance.

Best thing you can do at this point is check your timing belt to make sure that everything is still lined up. If the belt has jumped a couple of teeth than you might have bent the valves. Since its simple to check the timing belt assembly its the easiest and best place to start.

After an intense search Iam pretty sure I jumped the timing and bent all the valves I'll check soon, the car is an hour away in my friends driveway.

Does the car still run? If yes then you didnt bend valves. Bent valves leave ZERO compression in the cylinders and will not fire. If the car still runs i will bet its just a few trashed lifters.

Yes car still starts and runs but dies out (I was figuring it was the knock it was picking up) It did this 3-4X. How do I check for trashed lifters? Bump it over with VC off and look for what? THANKS GUYS!!
