Bad lifter? or just sol

I am hoping its just a bad lifter but i am sure its not, The car smokes on start up and wont build much boost 8#s maybe. there is a loud tic tic tic coming from the head, The car also will hardly idle. I have no boost leaks or anything like that.

I am pretty sure that i need new rings but i am hoping for a simpler solution haha.

i see the motor in your avatar is still on a stand.. have you just rebuilt it and this is the first start up?

Sorry, the motor in my avatar i built and out in my old talon 7 years ago. this is another project.

id see if all the timing marks line up. then try a dry and a wet compression test

If you have bent valves, you will definitely see it in a compression test. You should probably order new lifters anyways

the car lost the oil cooler seal awhile back and lost most the oil out of the motor, i fixed the seal and parked it pretty much. only driving it now an then. i did a dry wet test on it and it came back ( from left to right) 165,165,115,115. i put oil in the cylinders and the compression came up in the low holes. witch is why i am thinking it is rings, Will a collapsed lifter act the same way?? it has the revised lifters in it. im just trying to check every option before i have to tear it apart.

if your seeing 165 and 115 then you have a problem and should start taking it apart

I am just doing some wishful thinking more or less then haha, i should just get after it since i am sure it just needs a rebuild instead of trying to find any other thing it could possibly be
