one day i was driving home from my friends house and my car started acting up... like it would idel high at a dead stop so i went to autozone to get a code for my engine light on.. it said that its a bad idel control valve... so i got it replaced and right when i replaced it i started the car it died imediatly but once you keep the revs up for a min it starters to idel fine im so clueless right now i check all the vacum lines replaced the map sensor and a plug that goes on top still same thing

does anyone have any idea on wut it could be ???

Huh? You may want to clean this up a bit and re-post.

Slowdown. We can't understand you when you type like that.

Was the light on before it started "acting up"? What did you replace and what did you check? Is the check engine light still on?

the check engine light came on when ever my idel control valve went out right after when i replaced it and started the car it went away and another one came on saying that intake manifold pressure is too high... here is wut it does when i start the car it dies but when i keep the revs up for lil bit it idels just fine... i replace the map sensor and it still does it

Are you using Missing Link or an FCD (fuel cut defender)? These are used to trick the MAP sensor into thinking that there's no positive intake manifold pressure. Perhaps your Missing Link is failing. I'm no expert when it comes to Missing Links or FCD's (partly because I haven't actually dealt with one personally, well until I swap in my turbo parts anyways), but I suppose it's worth a try to check it out.

An incorrectly wired FCD can cause this.
A failing missing link.
A intake manifold leak, vacumm line leaking...
If the timing is off is could cause this as well.
What is the pressure in the manifold? Hook up a vacumm gauge and find that out.

yeah im using missing link but i dont think its workin anymore ### i hit fuel cut at 4k rpms so i just got a FCD.... but do you think i messed up the timing when i replaced my idle control valve ??? and how you time it ??

I don't know too much about missing links but I don't see how they would cause your car not to idle at all...
Where did you get the FCD from?
I would try that first of all and see if that helps.
Check agian for vacumm leaks they usually give you a bad or no idle.

Edit: Get a vacumm gauge and hook it up to the intake manifold and tell us what your vacumm reading is.

Your IAC has nothing to do with the timing. The timing belt is located on the passengers side of the engine.
Chances are that if your timing is off the ecu will throw a code. But, not always.... or at least not for me.
So here are some links for changing the timing belt.

If your timing is right on it wont cause any problems like this obviously. And your fcd can cause your engine to like shutter and die if your didnt set the right voltage for it. make sure that you installed it right.

If it had a HIGH idle then possibly you are leaking air into the intake manifold after the Thorttle body. Do a Boost leak test and see where it's leaking. I used to have a Missing link on the turbo'd 420a and it would always BLOW that cotton filter out of the small vent hole on the Missing link. That could cause extra air to be sucked in the intake manifold AFTER the throttle plate. :notgood:

You didn't mess up the timing by Changing the IAC. You might just need to let the car Idle for 20 minutes to RE-learn the Correct idle.

I would start first by making a simple boost leak tester, and check for leaks around the Manifold gasket/s/ Injector seals/ Throttle body gasket.

Have you installed the FCD yet?

Remember if you end up doing the boost leak test....try not to exceed 5-8 psi...Your 420a is NOT meant to handle 20 psi

If the timing jumped somehow, yes it could cause the car not to idle. I know cause mine was just like that, if I revved it, it would run but without the throttle open it would die. But, the timing didn't change from him changing the IAC like I said.

He doesn't have a FCD, he has a missing link, he said he is getting a FCD.

After reading through a bunch of old threads containing info on the missing link, more and more am I believing that it's the missing link itself that's causing the problem. Just like Jeff99GS said, make sure the little cotton filter is still in there. Either way, your decision to get an FCD and get rid of the missing link is a good one.

my FCD came in today.. i got it from treadstone performance.. so me and my buddy ganan install it tomorrow and well see wut happens...

but today we checked all the leaks again and cleaned out manifold and missing link, after that its running better but it still dies right when you start it but once you rev it high few times it goes back to mormal idle

When you go turbo i think the missing link is the worst. I tried the filiter with it and it still wasnt the best. especially when your turbo. thats good to hear you got your fcd. That should make i difference.
