Ok. I've seen threads with similar issues but none really seem to be pertaining to what my issue is.

Randomly, when i start my car (98 RS w/ head job about 3 mths ago) it will sputter for a second then idle normal. Then sometimes when i move off, it stutters a bit then takes off. Almost like it mis-fires and clutch doesn't catch but most of the parts are fairly new. That has been happening for a few weeks now.

Then tonight on my way to buy some dinner, my car would stall any time i was idling w/o gassing it. I would have to rev while sitting or stay in gear while cruising to keep it alive. It would start right back up but i would still have to gas it to keep it on. This stopped after about 5 mins of driving and everything seems fine. Tomorrow morning i will check around the engine and try and figure this out and could use some advice.

******NO CEL*******

PS. If it helps, i noticed a few nights ago, that if i throw the car in neutral while cruising between 85-90, my car while sputter (oil light flashes on) until i slow down or put it back in gear. Whats with that?

Thanks

Sounds like an oil pressure issue. Although, if there is no CEL, I'm not sure where to start with this one...

I'd check your oil. If that oil light flashes on then you should definately take a peek at where the level sits. You could just have VERY low oil. Also check your coolant.

Eh... you should check your oil on a regular basis anyway. I don't, however, think this problem is caused by low oil. Often times, the ECU will flash either the oil light (or more likely the battery light) when your engine is stalling. So I say your problems are probably somewhere within the electronics... it could be a variety of things: the first of which that popped into my head are the CMPS/CKPS, or vacuum leaks. Take a peak around your engine bay and tell us if you notice anything unusual.

The oil level is fine. The light always will come on when the engine is about to stall. Thats what i was trying to say. That while cruising at high speeds or like yesterday night, it tries to stall when i am in neutral. Right when its goes into neutral the rpm gauge just drops all the way down to zero and stutters before cutting off if i dont give it gas or put it back in gear.

Right now it seems fine but the issue is weird.
