Hey yall, I seem to be having problems idling. The car idles around 800 and will hold that RPM. It runs perfect at 1500 RPM. The thing is it seems like there is alot of backfiring. I can also hear the backfire in the Intake. What could cause this and what are possible solutions?
Problem #2. When i slightly press on the accelartor it does the oppisite and bogs down. It will eventually get up to higher RPMs but it takes a few pumps of the gas pedal. The throttle Response seems really sluggish too. What could this be and could the problems be linked together? I do have an SAFC II as well.

Please if anyone can help that would be great. Thanks.

I would agree with the boost leak test, if there's a vacuum leak it'll bog it down like your suggesting. Also, after reading your mods list it says you have a 6 bolt swap done. Did you do it or someone else? Something may not be hooked up correctly. Otherwise The Cam angle sensor could be going (or gone). Otherwise like OMF up there ^^ said, it could be a variety of other things. The Throttle Positioning sensor (TPS) could be bad. etc.... There's ways to test these all. Get yourself a solid Haynes or Chilton manual!

Mine used to sound like it was backfiring in the intake manifold and the throttle response was crap, but i found out my throttle positioning sensor was bad and after i replaced that the response was good. I then replaced my MAF sensor and that somehow stopped the popping noise in the intake manifold.

thank you guys. Im going to pick up a new TPS and CAS just for Sh**ts and giggles. I also am in the process of making a boost leak tester. Also, I checkd the Idle speed Controller and it was good. I did not do the swap it was in the car when i bought it. But I am now getting a new motor built from a shop out here and it will hopefully be pushing 800HP...so I hope. I just want her running for a bit before i leave for basic so I can have some fun.
