Bad Gas Or Tps???

OK the spyder made it to Austin and back for the "Rita" evacuation in one piece I'm proud to say, but now it is stuttering sometimes. The stutter doesn't happen all the time but when it does happen it starts to get a crappy idle and almost dies out. When i try to give it more gas it acts as a natural brake and slows me down and sticks at the current rpm. I have already changed the fuel filter "that sucked wasn't hard to do just hard to get angles on it", it cleared up for around 2-3 hours then BOOM it's back. I don't know if it's gas problems or tps. The only reason I am saying TPS is because a friend of mine said his car went through the same thing and it turned out to be his Tps. Any help in this matter would be Greatly appreciated....P.S. Sorry if this is in the wrong section thanks. I need to get this fixed quick start new job at Baytown Mitsubishi on tuesday.

Well, I would get a fuel sample in a clear container. Let it set overnight and see if you have water in it. You say you changed your fuel filter and it went away for a couple of hours? I would focus there before moving on. Remove the fuel line before the filter and have someone crank the engine. Kill the ignition by unplugging at least the cas and coil primary input so you don't have any chance of a spark while holding raw gasoline. If this passes then I would scan for codes. If no codes then I need more information. Let me know Above all, be safe and if not sure don't do this test.
