Bad clutch?Car wont go over 3000rpm! HELP!!

Ok this is what happened to me today...i had a misfire problem so i changed out plugs and wires and went for test drive. I went out and drove the car pretty hard for about 5-10 mins with no problems. when i decided to go home i got stopped at a red light. As i started to shift into 1st everything was fine through out every gear ( 1-4) shifts perfect but the car wont alow me to go past 3000 rpm without a bad sounds. kinda like metal to metal. i can floor the car and it will not pass 3000 and makes a scarping sound.

like i said before it goes into every gear perfect and you dont notice anything until you try to pass 3000. i dont know if i blow the turbo, my clutch is gone bad, or what. i read up on TOB's and it seemed like it would be that but i am not to sure. i am still learning about cars so its hard to say what it could be. it kinda feels like the trans is not catching or the clucth isnt catching under high speeds. now that i think about it, it kinda somewhat sounds like when u try to start the car when its already started. just a really bad scraping sound and extreme power loss. most all the power isnt there. if im not giving enough info or left out somethin please let me know..

ps the sound seems to be coming from the front right side and i thought maybe somethin came undone but everything looks normal under the hood.

Let me get this straight. You can't get the engine to pass 3k rpms, and when you try to, it makes a scraping noise? Does this noise occur only after hard driving? only after the car warms up? does your turbo spool up at all? Does the noise still happen if you accelerate slowly? We don't have much info to go on...

i didnt realize i didnt update my profile.
it kinda sounds like its my turbos trying to spool up. the sound happened lastnight and once it happened the car didnt let me go over 3000 each time i drove it. i feel like i either blew the turbo or its somethin witht he clutch. there is no oil leak and the car runs fine in every gear until i hit 3000. it didnt seem to matter if the car was warm or cool. this like its not going to go away....like some damage is done. i checked all the belts that are visible and they all seem to be on. i checked all my turbo vac hoses and they all seem to be on.the car barely lets me get past 3000 when i take it very slow. but during non racing/normal driving it wont and makes the noise either way it seems and does have any power...just gotta dogging. i poped the hood and reved the car everything sounds normal. got in the car and went through all the gears, that was normal. what other things am i missing about the story?

If it was the clutch, I don't think the car would be moving right now. Did you bring the car over 3000 when you had the hood open?

Disconnect your intake tube from the turbo and check for shaft play/rotation. I'm thinking some debris is stuck in your turbine, and it's choking your engine down at 3k. Whatever is in there, it's probably still able to spin and making the noise you hear. Could be that the turbo is just at the end of its life. How many miles on the car, and have you ever replaced the turbo?

Do an intake leak test. Also make sure your MAF is plugged in and the wires aren't rubbing against anything metal..

A boost gauge and logger would be really helpful right about now. That would let us distinguish between engine vs. drivetrane problems.

First Off I Want To Thank Everybody For Even Taking The Time To Help Me Out.
I Called Exteme Motor Sports Today And Told Them The Problem. Everybody Should Know About Them But Anyway...my Intercooler Pipe Came Undone And It Was Righ After The Intercooler Kinda Hidden Up My Intake Filter Which Was Hard To See Unless I Took Off The Filter. I Was Really Worried Because Somebody Told Me I Had A Bad Clutch But I Think He Just Said That Because He Lost A Race In My Car And Didnt Have A Feel For My Car...hes Pose To Be The Best Driver...so He Says. That Is Why I Was Thinkin The Clutch Was Going Out. Any How I Connected And Strapped Everything Back In Place And The Problem Went Away. I Have A Hard Time Trouble Shooting This Car Because Its My First Turbo Car And I Dotn Know Many Ppl Who Drive Turbo Cars I Can Go To For Advice...again Thanks Everybody For Trying To Help Out...dsm Ppl Are Always Showin Love To Their Extended Family!
