bad cig lighter...help

i just bought a radar detector and went to plug it in, and no power, i tested it in my other car, and it worked fine. when i took the side console panel off, i noticed a wire with a white clip on the end of it not attached to anything, but i cant find where it goes on the cig lighter. There are 2 wires that go to it, a blue wire with a white clip, and a black wire with a black clip...how do you hook the cig lighter up? if all else fails, ill just hardwire my radar detector...how do i do that?

On the back on the cig lighter (inside the console) there are two metal tabs and the clips just slid onto them. I would recommend hard-wiring your radar in the first place, it's simple and it gets rid of the ugly wires everywhere.

The power wire should hook up to the center of the lighter as the ground should go on the outside( plugs should be different sizes )
