how does it not work? does the lighter itself just not work? sometime is will go bad. stick a cell phone charger in there and see if it works. it if does then the lighter itself is just bad not the whole thing. they are only like $5 at napa or you can get the WHOLE thing for like $15

i dont smoke so all i used it for was my cell phone charger but that was like 2 or 3 months ago and then my girlfriend tried using it this weekend on our roadtrip and it wouldnt work. we positioned it every possible way and it wouldnt work. where can i get the WHOLE thing for 15 bucks at? is it dealer only or can i get it at a parts store?? thanks in advance.

My lighter receptacle doesn't work either... and my fuse is good. I checked and the 12v is going to the the lighter socket, so I took a close look at the socket and found that there was a melted safety 'fuse link' thing in it, which is not replaceable.... so a whole new lighter/socket combo is needed. [I overheated it by plugging in one of those air compresser gizmos for a half hour.] Many replacements are available at an auto parts store, although the wire plug connecter terminal thingy may be a little different, and you'll have to monkey with it a bit. The dealer might have the exact replacement receptacle... at 3 times the price!! The first step is to take the console up and out [or whatever] to get the lighter assy out. Then put it in your pocket [the lighter assy, not the whole console!] and head out on your quest for a replacement. I found that my left pants pocket is the luckiest!!
Again... check for 12v at the receptacle socket wire first!!! Like 'Defiant" wrote.... twice --> FUSE? !!!!
Let me know what you find!

So.....Bringing this dead thread back to life... I have the same problem. I have checked the "Fuse" on the back of the cig housing and it is not popped and have checked every fuse under the hood numerous times...wth? I have to be missing something stupid so help me out! I am not getting power to the unit itself.

First disconnect the cig lighter connector check and see if you have 12v power with a test light or volt meter. If you dont have 12V then there is a blown CIG fuse or open in the wire! If you do have power check your ground! If you have power and ground the socket is most likely bad!
